new wilson tennis balls

Has anyone else tried the new Wilson tennis balls? They were given to our teaching pro to demo & we were lucky enough try them. These were marked specifically for har-tru -(guessing as a premium alternative to the regular duty us open balls)?

I'm sorry I do not have pictures of the cans. They were not the green dot balls for juniors but the packaging was somewhat similar.

We only played a few sets but they seemed to remind me of the prince tour balls of a few years back. They had plenty of bounce & didn't seem as heavy or hard like Slazenger - maybe they test marketing them?

Either way I have not seen anything since.

They are Wilson Tour Clay Green, and they are imho the longest lasting clay balls on the market. We carry them at my store, the maintain there bounce don't fluff open and don't get as heavy as the rest of the clay balls out there. There is some sort of coating on the felt that keeps them from taking on water.

I did not find them superior in any way to the other premium balls. At double the price, I certainly don't think they are a good value. PKfan1 does have me interested in trying them again in wet conditions though.

Used these balls last summer, awesome but not worth $6/can. Btw, Wilson regular-duty balls are better than ever.

Appreciate the feedback - there used to be a fairly good con census on the best value premium balls by court type, durability, with feel & weight but the old treads didn't appear to be updated other than general preference. Was hoping to stay away from $144-94 range to pick up a couple of cases for the summer. Any concesus on best ball for har-tru?

Haha, i just watched one of the jimmy fallon "ew" sketches.

Oh, and i have not actually tried this new clay court ball. I am really just going on how inferior their champ ball is to a dunlop champ ball.

also, i am not alone in feeling that the us open ball sold to the public just does not stack up to a penn marathon or a dunlop gp hc....at least on hard courts.

So, uhm, like, Ew.

Wilson US Open ball stinks. Covers don't last, fluff up, bounce is inconsistant. Regular duty Champ ball best the past year. Dunlop Champ unavailable locally. Grand Prix ball is sweet.

I don't like US Open Extra Duty balls at all. They fluff up like crazy. The regular duty version is pretty good though.

Had to open three cans in 10 minutes to find three balls with a consistant bounce. Last week's balls needed a weave after the balls fluffed up after one player used his Prince Tour 98 ESP. Balls fluffed then became threadbare. Bring those racquets, bring another can of balls for each set. Or at least a shaver.
