I was thinking about these two. Their similarities and differences.
Are they alike or not?

This thread includes a popularity poll as a bonus.

Discuss (or ignore).

2 important differences:

1. Paire still plays tennis, Kyrgios does not.
2. Paire wears a beard (at least when he plays), Kyrgios does not.

I don't buy Kyrgios is much more talented. He is like a servebot.
Well yes, other than the serve he's just extremely talented for trickshots (maybe second only to Mansour Bahrami), and quite some people confused that with talent for what really matters in tennis.

It's like saying the champion in football juggling competitions could be the next Messi. Two totally different things.

Both have flashy and inconsistent playstyles.

One plays random flashy shots to entertain the crowd (and himself?) instead of trying to win.

The other pretends to do the same thing, then says he would dominate the tour if he tried harder.

Kyrgios Berretini Anderson are all legends .

A thread that has nothing to do with Djokovic, but you clearly cannot help but make it about Djokovic.

You shouldn't let him own so much real estate in your head, at least charge him a premium.

Did i say Djokovic anywhere ? They are all tall, have great serves and FH. All made top 15 and grand slam finals. Good careers to look back.

For the record, I was not thinking of Djokovic at all when I created this thread.

Nick pretends he doesn't care to protect his massive ego and is always quick to remind others what he has achieved - Benoit just flat out doesn't care. Nick is also much more eager to attack others and be argumentative, getting easily triggered by the rebuttals and uses tired and reaching fallacies to fight back - Paire just hurts himself

I used to respect his talent and ability to stand up to the big 3 but his attitude towards others has just been disappointing

They are both batshit crazy, roughly the same height, good junkballers with very poor point construction abilities.

That’s where the similarities end though.

Kyrgios is a throwback seventies style servebot with an attacking game, great hands at nets and a live arm but no shot tolerance.

Benoit Paire is a backhand dominant grinder and great athlete with no transition game.

Right. He has no singles slam, which is all that we care about. The man has one grand slam one final to his name and he only got there because of a walk-over by Nadal.
In my opinion current doubles tennis is a joke, and I do agree that Kyrgios got lucky, but a final is a final.

This is the most accurate description I have seen. The only thing though is that Nick realized this too late, and he wasted most of his career being a very poor baseline with a big serve. Aside from some spurts of sublime net play, Nick had no transition game either and could only drop volley.
