NOOOO my new Slazenger Pro X-1 broke!

I was serving yesterday and my racquet slipped out of my hands and smashed into the court and cracked. I couldnt believe it at first, I had just had the racquet for about a month. Fortunately it wasnt a total loss, as I won the set I was playing against a very good hitting partner. Sucks though

Y'know, I read all these stories of people doing this on here, and I never really thought it actually happened.
Until I met Brandon, who has a bag with 4 broken frames in it that his whole HS team swears were broken in that fashion.
I played him a while ago, and he did it in our match. The racquet didn't break, but I guess it does happen.

Did you hit it fairly hard, or did it just hit a weak spot?

Haha oh dear! This actually happened to me 5 weeks ago, i destroyed a PDR on a serve. Im looking for some sort of grip resin to help out.

I was trying to experiment with loosening up my grip on my forehands a couple of weeks ago and a shank caused some serious slippage. I tried diving for my racquet as it cartwheeled across the court but it was too fast for me. Luckily there was no serious damage.

Quite a coincidence - I was practicing serves, and my brand-new Slazenger Pro X1 (which I acquired from the same shop as you did) slipped out of my hand and hit the court. Fortunately, the racquet was fine, however, the bumperguard was destroyed. Glad I had a spare set of grommets and my stringer replaced the bumperguard for me.

I'm so sorry to hear that mate, especially cause you love those racquets so much and they're discontinued.
This is one advantage about playing on softer grass courts: racquets don't get beat up half as much.

Yea Im gonna have to go back to the ****** I suppose...the price on those things went up like 50 bucks right after I bought mine. Bummer

I was playing a Futures, and the guy's racket slipped on 2nd serve, flew over the net WITH the ball, and I had to return - and then duck as it bounced once and came right at me.

It was soooo weird that I just sort of bunted the ball back over the net...luckily, as it was match point for me in a 3rd set tiebreaker! I almost stopped because I'd never even seen it happen, but my reflex reaction was this complete patty-cake, pusher return over the net! lol... Sooooooo ugly...but hey...

Super hot, super humid.... I can see it happening. I've found that those 'super tacky' grips get SUPER SLIPPERY when they're really wet with sweat! Just like an eel in my hand. I've stopped using them for hot/humid days.

Sorry for that loss...Is that the white and gold Slazenger frame? Or am I thinking something else?

I hit the serve hard but my grip was too loose and my hand was sweaty so it just flung right out and smashed the frame side-ways into the court.

Lucky you...we love cheap concrete courts in the states. They beat up our bodies and our racquets!

Let me explain. This racquet, the best racquet ever made, was discontinued 5 years ago. It's very rare. Slazenger07 was lucky to find a brand new one. And it is now destroyed. How does that make one feel?

did the follow-through of your serve slam your racquet into the ground? Im honestly trying to find a point in a service motion that a racquet has the potential to release from the hand and have enough "forward" momentum towards the ground to break it.

Off topic a bit, but I'm pretty sure there was no need to return the serve to claim the point. Surely a racquet flying from your opponent's hand in your direction is considered a hindrance allowing you to claim the point, tiebreak, set and match! Quite a way to end a match though and no doubt best that you returned it anyway to eliminate any possible argument.

A. Losing your racket accidentally in an attempt to play a shot is considered part of play and is not considered a hindrance.
