Oversize with "players racquet specs" will never come back to production?

Hello.

On my return to the game after a long hiatus, i tested a lot of modern racquets, at the end of the day, i simply felt in love again with a 20 years old OS racquet, the Radical Tour Oversize from 1998, the "candycane".

It was very hard to track down 2 of this in "old new stock condition", and as they are very scarce today in this condition, the price was a little higher than one of the most expensive racquets on the marketing today, that is the RF Autograph i think, but worth it every penny for me.

As far as i know, the only ones still in production is the POG 107 and the Blade 104.

I think HEAD stoped the production of the Radical Tour OS together with Agassi retirement, and after the "candycane OS " and "TI Radical OS", the next models always came with a downgrade in specs as far i remember... the real deal is still only the "bumbleblee", "zebra" and "candycane"... oh the Head Pro Tour i think was offered in a OS with solid specs back in the day too.. that's what i remember from HEAD OS frames.

Wilson probably will stop the production of the Blade 104 after Serena retires?

I think a more variety of Oversize with "players specs", control oriented frames, flexible, stable, solid static and swing weight on the marketing today still would be relevant for club players at intermediate and advanced levels.

Different folks, different strokes, but man...the feeling of the Radical Tour OS on the baseline is outstanding, nice fore volleys too, i just still need to groovy in on the serve with this racquet, you have to be in nice technical form to serve nice with this weapon.

Prince is very smart in continue to produce the POG 107, i bet they sell a lot.

I think NO! there's a minimal chance of OS control oriented frames back in production by different brands now days, mostly because there's no Pro player to market then anymore?

Anyway, do you think the OS players racquet will back in production someday?

By the way, I think @TennisWarehouse worked together with Prince to bring back a flexible 93sq head size frame, is that correct? TW was involved?

If yes, why not involve with some other brand to bring back a new OS players racquet :)

(as Prince already have they great OS frame)

You are right there's the reissue of the Trisys 260 OS that came out what? 10 years ago? some claim that is a cheap replica, i don't know, never hit with one.

if they offered it in standard length w a 325ish SW (oh wait, this is wilson ... 320-330ish SW) i would already have a couple.

Yes, those put off by XL rackets have fewer options. Admittedly the standard Blade 104 is closer to those specs but I find it less stable than the SW model.

I've never played with them, but Prokennex used to have several 105 offerings that looked enticing to me.

Would the radical 102 be a potential option?

Given that like 50% of pros use them, how about XLs with player specs!

I will say that they are not impossible to pick up from the auction site in new or next to new condition for reasonable sums om money, talking about those frames you mentioned as the real deal. I was able to pick up 2 bumblebee oversize raquets myself in new condition about a year ago hear in europe from the big auction site. These are truly amazing raquets! For any player that likes to take the ball early and go big on groundstrokes these sticks provide a huge advantage! The feel is very solid with little vibration and ample power is always available. Probably they work even better these days when polystrings are available for better control. Its a shame they dont make raquets like this anymore, im sure that if they would be more available young players would play with them and they would also be in use on the tour. Try one for youreself if you havent, taking the ball early and playing Agassi like tennis becomes so much easier with these...

My main racquet is still the Prince NXG 107 which fits the mold. Every time I try to switch to a 100, I'm back within a few months. The Wilson Blade 104 is interesting but I'm too cheap to pay that kind of coin.

I'm still puzzled why Prince didn't continue making frames with the grommetless small-hole design. Best string support technology ever developed, IMO. Better, more direct feedback from strings, where you can feel the strings stretching at impact. I think the NXG line didn't take off due to to the unusual weighting specs (with extreme HL balance), but that grommetless design gives it addictive grippy feel. Come on TW, help Prince bring this technology back, just like the old NXGs, but give them lighter handles for more customization flexibility!

That super headlight feel is exactly why I can't survive a switch away from the NXG OS.

Stock it's something like 11 points!! But while you can make other racquets as headlight with tail weighting, they don't have the power and stability of this beast, while still having the flexibility and thin beam that cuts through the air. I go back and forth adding a little lead to the tip if I'm looking for more on serve, but stock it still has plenty of pop. Guys I play pick up my racquet and shake their heads, can't believe I play with this thing....12.5 ounces, kevlar mains strung very loose. But..it's what I'm used to and a I play worse when I try to switch to something else. I have a couple original graphites and they are close but still not the same...feel much more unwieldy and stiff to me.
