Hi Boricua,

Typically a softer string isn't a substitute for rest and ice.

Having said that, Xcite is not softer. After your arm heals, you might try Tourna Big Hitter Black 7, Polyfibre TCS or Gosen Sidewinder. We've found that all of these are softer than Black Shark. Also, you might try adding some weight to the racquet's head as this would reduce shock.

Hope this helps,
Jon

How about Weiss Cannon Black5Edge and Kircshbaum Helix? Is LTEC Premium Flex string a good cross for these copoplys or just use the copolys in the 40s?

Boricua,

Both of those are close in stiffness to Black Shark, so you are not likely to notice a significant difference. Helix is probably the softest of the bunch. You should check out this tool and select the "Arm Friendly" filter. This will allow you to compare the stiffness levels of different strings.

Regarding a hybrid, L-Tec Premium would add some comfort, Power and feel - and it's decently crisp for a syn gut. Ultimately, you have to decide what kind of feel you want. If you want an even more arm-friendly feel, than you should try a soft multifilament like Dunlop Silk or Isospeed Professional. These would add a more muted feel to the stringbed.

Hope this helps,
Jon
