I am currently have a demo of the Dunlop 4D 500 Tour, and I am awaiting a demo of the Babolat PDR +. Anybody who has played both of these which one did you find more arm friendly ??

I haven't played the 500 Tour yet, but I can speak on the PDR+...

It killed my arm frankly. I strung it first with Gosen Synthetic @ mid tension. My arm wasn't happy. I tried Head RIP Control 16 @ 52lbs; alas it wasn't comfy. I tried RPM Blast 17 full bed @ 52lbs, and still too stiff.

I would for sure play gut with it, at least in a hybrid as it was just overall way too stiff for my sensitive arm!

Depends on the style you have, i personally hated the pdr, very stiff with NO give, my shots went and i couldn't adjust which is unusual normally it takes about 10 min. The 500 tour was good there was so much spin, a little lead at 3&9 does it good as well but it served great and power was good. My backhand was more powerful and accurate with the 500 tour

I also hated the PDR and played with the 4D 500 tour for a year, but it is also a stiff frame and I gave it up because of shoulder pain. The PDR felt like a club to me. Absolutely no feedback. It also feels much more clunky going through the air than the 4D 500 tour. If the tour was a little softer, I'd still be using it. I did everything really well with it.
And yes, it is a very accurate frame. For me, shot for shot, it killed the PDR. Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback. The 500 tour is definitely a good buy at half the price of the Babolat. I guess I will see how my arm likes it.

Hey GS, I have extensively tried both frames and these are my impressions. 500T plays super-stiff. It feels stiffer than PDR to me. The string pattern is VERY open, much more than 1 more cross would indicate. Didn't have a chance to try Biomimetic version but I liked AG version much more than 4D for some reason.

PDR+ is a VERY demanding frame. SW is much higher and it is not good for my 1hbh. Generally speaking I don't like extended frames and I hit much better on my bh side with std length racquets. One thing that sucked badly for me with 500T is block return of pacey serves. It requires full swing and cuts every time. Just my $0.02 :)

Btw, why don't you try PD Std?

SD if I could only generate the topspin I get with either of these rackets on my KBlade 98 I would be a happy with that. But just can't seem to duplicate it.

I see. Well, I don't think I can help you because spin doesn't really exist in my game :) Btw, one thing would definitely help you in that department - lighter racquet. It is well known fact that spin is a function of a racquet-head speed hence my recommendation. It is much easier to brush up the ball with say 500T than with your KBlade (if I remember correctly yours are weighted to 120z+, correct?)

SD you are correct. My Kblade setup is 11.9oz.. I am going to bring the weight down to 11.5, and see how it compares against the 4D 500Tour, and the Bio 500 Tour which i will also be trying tonight. Let you know.
