Penta Premium Stringer 3600 Stringing Machine vs Pro's Pro Hornet and Gamma Progression II

First stringing machine, only stringing for myself so a maximum of 3 racquets a month. I'm on a budget and was considering the Gamma Progression 2 because it is cheaper by £70+ but I read that floating clamps are inferior to fixed clamps.

Has anyone got any recommendations for the under £400 price range?

I was in your position and bought a used tyger on e bay. I recently pulled the trigger and bought a progression els II. Yes it's a lot more. But I wish I did it sooner.

The £100 I spent on a used dropweight was still amazing.

Personally I wouldn't go for the floating clamps. I'd prefer penta just because I've seen mixed reviews on pros pro.

But I'd recommend spending more. I also didn't listen years back and it was still a worthwhile purchase but a better machine is wroth it

Fixed clamps are always easier to use, but I’d rather have good flying clamps than poor quality fixed clamps. If the fixed clamps are in good working order hands down they are better.

Thank you! I don't see my budget for this increasing in the foreseeable future, certainly not to over £1000 unfortunately. I would be great to pick up used drop weight for £100, I'll look around. Thanks for the suggestion of Penta.

Thank you, I hope that the fixed clamps would be in good working order on a new machine, but who knows? Any experience with these manufacturers?

Of the 3, I like the design of the Penta best. It has a single knob centering system for the side billiards.

I went with the Penta and strung my first racquet last night! took me an hour and half, two piece string job on ripstick 300. Quite enjoyed it! I've already bought a cheap reel of syn gut and some polys so will do some more stringing in the next 2 weeks

I've seen that penta base in person at another club and was impressed with it for the price. I think you did OK.
Now it's time to experiment with strings and stringing!

Thank you! The penta feels very solid, it's built like a tank and carrying it from room to room is a workout in itself. I'm enjoying the stringing process, I have strung two racquets so far with varying degrees of success, I need to work on maintaining a consistent tension throughout the string bed and pay attention to where I start the crosses... I noticed too late that one of the O ports wasn't strung on both sides so I effectively had one cross missing.... suffice to say I launched some balls with that stick this evening :-D
