Players in same league, same level, but different flights

I need some help in understanding or validating my understanding of this USTA League tennis rule:

Adult league tennis rule 3.01H(5)a States that " a player may play on one team in a NTRP level within this division in the same local league during the same season. In local leagues where NTRP levels are divided into flights, Players may not play in more than one flight."

Our 3.5 league is divided into two flights, and there are 4 players playing in both flights. 3 have played matches in both flights and won. (The captain is the same for both teams)

In the flight #1, they are in contention for going to Sectionals. In flight #2, they are not in contention.

My captain has written to our league coordinator for clarification but has not heard from him in over a weeks.

Will all matches played by these players in both flights be nullified? Or will the captain get to chose which flight will become DQs.

Yes. The captain of that team admitted to the error. He blames the USTA computer registration for allowing him to register players in same league/level but different flights.

The question is if our league coordinator will do anything about it and what will be the action taken.

I call BS on the Team Captain blaming the system, I would imagine he knew better and just did not want to get caught.
