Poly Is Heavy

Ive just realized, poly is heavy! It changes the balance so much, and makies it weird. I had pro hurricane and nxt hybrided and Although i didnt care much for the strings but the balance was amazing.

Now I have blue gear on it and it changes the balance too much.

Im wondering if there are any really light polys and poly hybrids.

I ordered some cyberflash and cyberpower and am gonna try hybiding it with gosen and NXT

anyone try these hybrids?

I think that its all in your head. I got a pack and of cyberflash (poly) and gamma revelation (multi) and CF doesnt seem any heavier than revelation.

I have been actually measuring how much polys weigh with ultra sensitive scale. Pro hurr tour 17 g weigh about 1.3 grams less than blue gear. I am going to measure other ones like Big banger Alu power, and Signum 18g and see how they compare. I put on full job blue gear, and i did notice some change to other brands but not by much, not that i noticed. but it is definitely lighter if i hybrid with natural gut like Gamma gut. I may have to go back to that. I do notice it is heavier if i do full poly job versus hybrid with natural gut/poly. Only problem is hybrid with natural gut, i get too much power and shots fly after a while, i am fairly hard hitter. Do you have suggestions on good Hybrid combo with poly like Blue Gear ??

Well, if you're that sensitive to the slightly heavier weight of poly strings, you can compensate by using a thinner guage. Polys are more durable, so you can get away with thinner strings and still not break them.

I am already using 17 gauge, Is there any good polys that are 17L or 18 gauge?

weighing the strings isnt very revealing. polys will weigh slightly more than synthetics in general, but that little bit of weight spread out over the stringbed does siognificantly change the balance and swingweight. In general it adds 4-5 swingweight points...significant for those who have the ability to notice things like swingweight change and balance change. Also because the material is stiff and nasty and doesnt stretch much at all, you will use more material to string the racqquet

i can feel the weight difference a little, but it is not a big enough deal to worry about. and when you weigh the strings remember you will prob be cutting off at least a few feet when you are done with each the mains and crosses, especially if you are using a small racquet head...

shojun, I dont think its all in my head, To test get a postal scale and weigh them yourself. Also a little wieght in the head would change the balance and swingweight by half a point and 4 swing weight points.

Fedace, BLue gear itself is a very good string, although I dont think its for me.

It is a little stiff for my tastes, but I like hybriding with a multi. Of course, I use a dense pattern so I get less power that normal, but I usually string a hybrid of a soft multi with a stiffer poly I.E. blue gear/nxt

Krischbaum Competition(1.2mm)is very light but still surprisingly solid. It makes the [k]Tour 90 swing easier. I think SPPP 1.18 is better but it's heavier and then again doesn't suit the racquet quite as well.

i hate polys that are thick.. i used once the wilson duo sensation hybrid and it felt slightly heavier than some natural guts :D
