Testing my new tripod. Gotta work on having a better viewing angle and maybe get a better sense of ball speed and trajectory.

Rally session with a hitting partner where we were counting points. That was the end of the session, windy night and dark but we got some nice ones going. I am the shorter guy, without a hat.
Nice hitting man! I think you could implement two related amendments to your FH:
- Apply semi-open stance on most of those FH - cmon, you really don't need that fully open stances! Next step - add more step-around footwork on shots you have more time to prepare, while keeping 1-foot pivot on more pressuring balls.
- You get your torso coil just a tad shy of full range. Get more (while keeping the racquet where it is).

Both of the above will improve the easy, flowing power generation.

Thanks for the feedback. I was going to say that's me being lazy and tired at the end of a session, but that's maybe just me being lazy hehe. Something to take note of and I,ll try to see/compare with the pros what they do.

I agree on my more powerful shots I feel I have a better coil.

Nice surrounding area around the court.

I feel your right knee, it must be very painful after hitting for like 30 mins hard I guess?

Be careful if your stroke is giving your too much pain there you might want to consider changing how you hit.

It's a nice place to play. 100m from my home, pool behind. Not sure what's up with the knee. It's new from last week after an intense game and no rest. I've got this abdominal and groin injury from hockey where I have to wear a strap to support my hip. I thought in the same idea I could support my knee.

I see that also makes sense. What I am saying is that your way of swing puts a lot of stress on the right knee and glute so I thought you did that knee wrap is to support the knee better and that is what you should do but I think your way of hitting is probably not good for long term hitting and might be susceptible to injury if you hit with higher intensity at longer interval.

I was mentally telling your opponent 'cover the fh return!', then you finally hit one to the bh side, nice!

I thought the previous post was a once in a lifetime deal, but managed to get 6 aces in 2 sets this time around. This was actually the only match I've played since that last video with 7 aces in a single set - I sprained my big toe/foot and have been out for the past month. Hopefully this trend continues - as ugly as my serve is, it's producing results!!

At 17 seconds you use the serving technique where
1) the arm is extended to the right (more to the right and less up relative to a high level serve.
2) racket head speed is developed by ISR
3) the racket face faces the sky early on in its approach to the ball (a checkpoint for a Waiter's Tray technique) but this is no WT because it uses significant ISR.

Bigservesofthands has used a serve like this and I believe it was TomT that also had a similar technique but he had elbow bend. BSSH gets good pace.

It does not appear that this technique could produce a kick serve. If you can produce a slice serve, please show how or give the time of the video.

Miscellaneous technique.

It wouldnt be wise. Using two hands from both sides during last 4 years I have won 25 tournaments and in 10 tournaments I was in the final. Two times I was runner-up in Polish Championships. And it all with injured right wrist.
Are u saying using 2 hands injured your wrist? Yes I have heard of that, nishikori and delpotro

No. I injured my right wrist off the court. It had nothing to do with tennis. It was 18 years ago. I was forced to play a two-handed forehand and after a month I was playing at the same level as before the injury.

you forgot to mention that match point that was 999% sure, and yet you somehow managed to lose the match.
oh, wait, match points don't count as wins.

It was about 400% matchball in the final of Polish Championships. My strings were strung very hard and we played using stones instead of balls(Tretorn Control).I was 3 meters in front of the net and all court was empty. Unfortunately I didn't use enough force and the ball slipped off the strings and hit the net. I was already thinking about shaking my hand with my opponent .

so at the beginning of the match point you had proper string tension and proper balls?
and before the match point someone came in and replaced your racket and the balls?

interesting stuff.

so 300% or 400%?
It sounds like that fish from fisherman stories that keeps growing with every new round of the story being told

Last year I should win because I had a 300% matchball.

Last year I had 300% matchball in those Championships in the final.

No. I won matches using board instead of the racket and stones instead of balls. My technique gave me great advantage. The last ball was so easy that I just didn't focus. You dont win Polish Championships so often. I was happy too soon, which resulted in a bad stroke.

I thought with your amazing technique you simply mop the floors with competition.
isn't your technique superior?

OK, you wasted one match point, get another one and get the job done.
I mean, you have superior control, don't you? and amateur tennis is about control, isn't it Greg?

I wrote abot it million times. I was in the lead 2:0 in the third set and a great downpour interrupted the game. It was very humid when the game was restarted and after a few seconds my glasses were fogged up. Under these conditions, seeing almost nothing, I brought it to 5: 2. I had matchball when it was 5: 3. Due to the warming up of the body from exertion, the glasses fogged up faster and faster. It's hard to play without seeing anything.

so you were leading 5:2 and lost 5:7?

I assume that contact lenses were invented after that match.
I used contact lenses 15 years ago but I thought that it was not normal to put something in the eye. Unfortunately, because of this I lost at least 10 tournaments. This year in Wrocław I was close to winning against multiple Polish Champions, but we played indoors and at the end of the matches my foggy glasses prevented me from winning. I was forced to atack at the net even when it was very risky. This is video from one of these matches.

Great net plays! All of a sudden, you don't need to play 10+ shot pushy rallies to win points!

It would be very difficult to win even one tournament playing serve and volley. The only reason why in this match I was very often at the net were my foggy glasses. I couldn wait because I wouldnt see anything after several seconds.

Google told me that by rinsing glasses with soup you can stop it from getting too foggy try that next time
I even bought a goggle anti-fogging agent for divers, and it didn't help. Probably contact lenses are the only solution but they don't correct astigmatism. I will try the soap too. Thanks.

Hard GP and toric soft lenses correct regular astigmatism.

Sclera hard (vaults over cornea and sits on white part of eye), and hybrid/piggyback lenses with soft on bottom and hard on top can correct irregular astigmatism. Supposedly the Sclera lense rivals soft lenses as far as comfort ... saline fills space between cornea and lenses ... lense basically replaces cornea surface.

I have mild irregular astigmatism 25+ years after Lasik ... and the Sclera hard would be my best constant vision, but haven't because they are/were $1500+. Glasses correct my mild irregular astigmatism, but I hate playing tennis in glasses. I wore pre-GP hard contacts from age 15 to 34 ... then had Lasik (twice actually) and had 20/20 vision until late 50s.

You mean that instead we should use one handed forehands from both sides ? Then we would be forced to change grips. In many situations we wouldnt have enough time.

You have enough time against fellow gezers unless your mind has slowed. That is ... if you get the contacts I told you about. You are welcome btw.

No, I used to following Federer's one handed style on both sides, not anymore. As show in the video, I changed completely to use two-handed on both sides in a forehand style, meaning the ball-side hand always holding the racket at the bottom (end) of the handed. Also show in the video, there is plenty of time to change both the grip and the position of hand at base line, even in the middle court. Watch Hsieh Su-wei, she changes her hand positions constantly from right to left side and vice versa, no time issues -

Watch Hsieh Su-wei's two-handed backhand style on both wings, ball-side hand in front like Djokevic's backhand -

Like Hsieh, I extended my pure drive racket to 29 inches to makeup the disadvantage of court coverage using two-handed on both sides. Can never handle racket this long using just one hand.
