Predict the Slam winners: 2018-2020

Hopefully this serves as a thread to discuss the next generation of players but hell, maybe Murray and Djokovic are still contending here.

I feel Kyrgios and Coric are splitting the Slam victories. Maybe Kokkikanis is getting a few too.

Despite the early onset of his physical decline, Grigor Dimitrov will be able to bag his 5th successive Wimbledon title to bring his total count to 18 majors.

Impossible to predict. I think 90% of Slam winners in that period are going to be new faces, Djokovic maybe wins his final Slam at the AO in 2018 but even there it's a stretch.
Agreed.

I'm actually not sure if Djokovic is side-stepped so easily. He'll be going on 31 in 2018 sure, but he strikes me as an Agassi clone in terms of his career. He'll be the last man standing and still better than the generation ahead of him. Good enough to basically steal a Slam or two.

Here's the thing, say he wins the USO this year. He'll have 10/11 titles past age 23. For reference, Federer nabbed 12/17 past 23. However he only netted 5 past 27. Novak is already at 3 in that department.

Federer finished #2 at 33 last season.
Looks to finish Top 3/4 this season at 34.

Murray and Djokovic will end the 2020 season aged 33.

Guys like Wawrinka are making dents, not the next generation. Sad times.

This list can only be credible if you edit in the losing finalists. ;)

I see Djokovic still winning slams then. If he ages well Murray could really shine at that point. I see Kygrios winning a slam. Coric and Kokkikanis could win a slam or two each too.

They will probably mostly be won by the current day equivilents of Albert Costa, Gaston Gaudio, Thomas Johnasson, Juan Carlos Ferrero etc.

2017-2022 will likely be quite similar to 1997-2002. Lots of different winners.

So guys like Nishikori and Raonic will almost certainly win something. Guys like Simon, Berdych, Troicki, Gasquet, Monfils might just sneak through a particularly weak draw in a slam when theyre playing out of their minds

I'll weep then.

I'll weep then.

Either that will happen, or Djokovic (and to a lesser degree possibly Murray and/or a recovered Nadal) will be winning more majors too, imparticular Djokovic.

Either way your idea Generation Next will produce a couple dominant champions who will be sweeping all the slams those years isnt happening. Best case is they might share them with the aforementioned others by then.

I just cannot see Kyrios winning a slam. Just so mentally weak. He's not HALF the player Andy Murray is and look how hard it is for Andy to steel his mind and win slams.

Tomic is never winning a slam.

Roanic is going to win some slams. Nishi will prob get 1-2.

The next US Open is the last chance for an under30 yo player to win a slam. And I don't see it happening with Federer, Djokovic, Nadal, Del Potro, Cilic being the favourites.

What I take from this thread is how much of an utter disappointment Kokkinakis turned out to be.

Hey now 2 more years to go people!

Either that will happen, or Djokovic (and to a lesser degree possibly Murray and/or a recovered Nadal) will be winning more majors too, imparticular Djokovic.

This just shows how difficult it is to make predictions several years in advance. It also shows us how garbage LostGen and older NextGen have been.

Call it 'career inflation' if you want (that's certainly accurate), but it's been incredible to watch the longevity and dominance of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic. They have surpassed all my expectations and are somehow still going. The era of the Big 3 will not be quickly forgotten

Well then...get ready for another 3 or 4 years of "mostly" Djokodal GS trophy sharing! I can nearly guarantee you, that these two will still be winning at least one grand slam per season beyond 2020 for at least 2 or 3 more seasons! And this year and next year they both will be the ONLY winners, with Djokovic winning majority of them...Rafa will snatch a couple too here and there (Probably either this or next year's RG in addition to either USO or WC titles...), the rest will be gathered by Djokovic, period! Starting from 2021 - one GS title for Rafa and one for Novak till 2022, the other 4 will be won by next gen, Tsitsipas will snatch 2, the other two guys i am not able to predict 1 each!...then Novak will win his last in 2023 (probably AO)...

Sorry, but monkey randomly picking labelled oranges would gain more points than people strongly seeking for players like Kokkinakis, Zverev, Kyrgios, FAA, Tiafoe, Rublev or all that -ic team.

People really had hope Djoker would decline forever to never win anything again. Silly rabits. And lol at next gen. 20s will be a feast for Djokovic.
