Hi guys...
Just wanted to know, what makes a Head racket a "Prestige" model?
What makes it different than Youtek or IG?
I know it's worth more $$$, but what physical characteristic does it possess that is different than the other Head models?
Thanks.

I dont understand your question. There is has been:
i.
LM
Flexpoint
Microgel
YouTek
IG
Graphene

Are you talking about the real ones that just go by Prestige Pro or Prestige Classic that does not have some made up marketing name in the front?

What allows Head to put the name "Prestige" on their rackets?
I know they can do whatever they want.
What actual physical characteristic makes a "prestige" frame?
I think they were made thru all those model years you listed.
My one head is the recopyed recent HeadMGOS, no prestige in sight.
What makes a "Prestige" different than the standard?

Yes, but what makes it more expensive to start with, and what makes it more expensive when used?
Is it "better"?
Why is it "better"?
Why is it more expensive?
This is a serious question, as I went to 2 shops, and got the runaround on both, neither knowing or willing to say WHY it's a "Prestige" and what is different from their normal model year names.

The Prestige is more of a "players racquet". Like Wilson's "Pro Staff" line. I checked the prices of the Graphene Prestige versus the Graphene Speed, they're both $199.

Thank you !
So it's basically a heavier and softer model in the line, or something like that.

3 things...one it is a name of a line no different than "Speed", "Radical", "Instinct", "Extreme"....two..they all are $189.95 on TW on within $10 of each other, so what are you talking about? Three....if you are an experienced player why would you ever buy from a "shop"...best selection and prices are online...in fact new sticks are rip off's in general...the "bay" is where it's at.

The line up's of manufacturers usually just represent a certain "style"..rough guide....i.e..Prestige-Low powered/ head light/upper weight range/ control. Speed...stiffer, more power, Raddy more flex, more even balance, lighter...Instinct...stiffer, lighter Prestige.

At least it was that way...before all sticks started to morph into cheap feeling, light, stiff crap...hence my love of used!

TW here would laugh at you, and what you said.
But thanks, Prestige seems to be a high end model that is usually heavier and flexier.
I go to shops to support them. Without shops, there would be no place to hang out on rainy days (it rained today), talk about tennis, and oogle the new pretty tennis rackets, of different makes and models.
Shops pay overhead, so we have to buy SOMETHING there to keep them in biz.
Today, I bought 3 WilsonSynGrips, and 2 packs of generic lead tape, 1/4" width, to help support my local shop.

Tennis shops charge the same prices as the internet if they are not derrrty. MFGs determine the prices, not the shops. The only difference in price is what ever stringing cost is and also sales tax I guess, but thats the same with anything online vs in-store.

And how is a prestige "expensive"? Racquets are pretty much the same across the board. There are babs that are 199 there are wilsons that are 199 or more. Beginner/ granny racquets can cost almost 250.

Its Heads Pro Staff basically. The top of the line frames they make for their most distinguished buyers.

And yes that was marketing mumbo jumbo, but you get the point.

Older Prestige models is another story. They have a cult status. Besides the fact that they have a very distinct feel, a lot of pros are using it right now (not to mention former pros too). Murray for example is really using a Prestige under his Radical paintjob.

Its a pro tour 630 i thought. Or a pt57a. Not a prestige. There is no prestige with that flex and the 16x19 pattern.

Back in the day when the Pro Tour 630 was introduced, I believe there wasn't the racket lines (group classes) like they have now.
I remember going into tennis shops in the 80s-90s and seeing the Head rackets & there were like 4 or 5 racket model that were slightly different. Prestige was usually red (except the i.Prestige), Radical was yellow then orange starting with the Ti.

Now theres 4+ for each line.

Thank you...
Best part is, SSecurity decided not to send out my monthly check, withholding it for 2 weeks now because they couldn't contact me.
After 2 hours of waiting, they decided to send out the check tomorrow afternoon.
What, they THINK I need the money? Of course not, they think I can float on my bad looks (like Yoda in StarWars).
Another good part. Bank refuses to waive my overdraw fee, overdrawn by $100, because it wasn't THEIR mistake, it was SocialSecurity's mistake, which wasn't really a mistake.
My cell phone doesn't work very often.

Apologies if I offended you, LeeD!
- I just thought Dje31's joke was rather funny, and couldn't hold back...
