Prince Neos 1000 mounting help

Hey everyone,
Hoping you can help me here....

I dont know if its me (probably) or the machine. I noticed where I mount the racket that I have these little indentations where the "dog kit" hole is pressing into the frame and leaving these half moon shaped slices.

Am I simply mounting the frame too tightly, or is it possible that the dog kit part is too high? It's definitely below the padding, but not much. I'm wondering if I need to get a thicker rubber pad in there so it doesn't do this.

Ive just been using an old racket that I don't play with to practice stringing, but I don't want to chew into my good rackets when I finally feel comfortable enough to string them.

Let me know if you have any thoughts.

Thanks again for your help. This board has been a great resource.

Thats what it is referenced as on the manual.
Its at the tip and throat mounting points. It kind of looks like a hollow screw that goes into the mounting part of the machine. its connected to the lever you use to clamp the racket down.
Both the tip and throat are being indented at that point.

The dog screw should not be above the padding and should never touch the racquet. I have replaced dog kits before and never had this problem so you could re-install it and see what happens. I suppose your pads have worn thin is also a possibility. However, perhaps an easier fix would be to place a piece of synthetic grip material over the hole/dog screw so it does not come into contact with the racquet. Good luck.

i owned a neos 1000 before and it never left any marks on the frame. either you're mounting too tightly or the frame pads need to be replaced. but it sounds like you're mounting too tightly.

I am trying to figure out what is happening based on your description. The dog kit is part #13 on page 17 of the Neos manual: http://rs.tennis-warehouse.com/tw/pdfs/NEOSManual.pdf

The dog kit hole the dog kit fits into, as it appears on page 17, is below the level where the frame touches the Neos. I can't see how this hole could possibly leave a mark on the frame.

Beernutz, that is just one part of the dog kit. Look up further on that page and you'll see another #13 with 2 little pieces. Its that top piece that is coming into contact with the racket. Just looking at the machine, it does sit lower than the pad, so I think I am just clamping down too hard. But, it may also be up just a bit high as well. Ill try and take some pictures tonight to give a better view.

I don't see how the metal part of 13 would ever touch a racquet. Don't you use a frame retainer (part #30) and also have the two white tip retainers (parts #115) installed?

It seems to me that if those two small upward pointing metal parts of #13 on the throat side are touching your racquet that you must be using the wrong frame retainer.

Pictures would definitely help.

Yes, I have all of that other stuff installed.

I think they may have just not been screwed down far enough. I removed the pads and retainers and the screws were sticking out just above the surface.

I screwed them in further and have them well below the surface level now so they will not come into contact with the racket any longer. I didnt want to screw it all the way down though at the risk of damaging anything. How far down are they supposed to go?

Thanks.

I checked my machine.
Those screw shouldn't be protruding at all.
Mine are screwed all the way down inside.
They must of forgotten to screw them in during manufacturing.

Thanks for checking lefty.
I bought this used so I guess they just never had them in the correct way.
Ive never used a neos before (or any machine for that matter), so Im still learning my way around it.
Thanks again!
