Prince Recoil - What Is It?

I have a new set of Prince Recoil but have not strung it up yet. The kid at the store didn't know much about it. Just curious... What exactly is this string - from a classification perspective? On the package, it appears to be a monofilament with an out wrap. Is it just a monofilament synthetic gut? It is supposed to prevent/help with string movement - similar to a poly. Is it a poly?

It certainly wasn't the cheapest set of string I've ever purchased. :)

Input appreciated. Thanks.

IMO, recoil strings are just a bunch of marketing crap. They claim about the "amazing discovery" of having strings snap back into place, but thats just what a poly does...

I have strung with this. I am not impressed. One set broke during stringing, and it seems to lose tension quickly. And you're right its not reasonable. All in all, I would rate this as a very ordinary string, not impressive at all. I doubt I'll recommend it. Better strings are available!

It's probably just a synthetic gut with a poly wrapping.

But it plays pretty nice.

Soft, nice power, nice control, good spin, and not too bad feel.

The string does snap back into place, but it is not a poly. It is not for the big hitters of the world, unless they have a very large budget for string. For my once a season older players who are looking for a high priced string, it works ok.

I played with Recoil (16g) for the first time tonight, and I absolutely hated it. (POG @ 65 lbs.) I play with a pretty decent amount of spin, and I thought the spin from Recoil was horrible. After about 40 minutes of rallying, I couldn't take it anymore and switched to another stick with Gamma Live Wire XP (17g). I am not a huge fan of Live Wire XP, but compared to Recoil, it felt like a dream.

Recoil did, however, live up to its promise... The strings snapped back into place. Other than that, Recoil = Crap, IMO. :)
