ProKennex Ionic Ki 5x Vs ProKennex Kinetic Pro 7g

Hi,

I currently own and play with a pair of ProKennex Kinetic Pro 7g's which I like, but the other day I made the mistake of hitting around with a Roddick Pro Drive, wow. Now I'm looking for something with some more power. Would like to go a get a ProDrive but I know for a fact that my elbow won't take it. So naturally I started looking to see what else is available from ProKennex and came across the ProKennex Ionic Ki 5x. The specs are very similar to the 7G and the reviews seem to be somewhat mixed in respect as how it compares to the 7g. I live in Puerto Rico so I can't demo the racquet :( so any help or impressions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Played and owned both.
7g compared to Ki5x.
stiffer feel: 7g
More control: 7g
More Power: Ki5x
More Manverability: very very similar but slightly 7g
Serve: Depends on what you like. But I thought the 7g felt more headlight. But you wouldn't have trouble serving heaters on both sticks.
Arm Friendiness: Both about the same. But i thought the ki5x flexed alittle more.
Personally, I like the classic feel of the 7g. But I think baseliners can easily play with this stick. You can get alot of pop from the ki5x given that it felt alot of weight is went to the head.
Both sticks are excellent choices and I can play easily w/o arm issues even with a full bed of low gauge poly.

Try out some full multifilament jobs or natural gut before switching frames. If you are a poly guy, drop the tension some more.

Thanks for the great comparison. Thinking will take a shot and order one. What kind of string did you like on it? I'm currently using RPM17 on the 7G's.

instead of ordering one, I'll suggest to pick up an old 7g first. Takes awhile to get adjusted to extended racquets. There's some floating around in the Used/Classified Section.

I had shoulder issues and switching to the 7g let me play. I had some 17g NXT's and it played pretty well. Also, I used Prince Top Spin as well on the 7g.

I use mostly used multis due to arm problems when I owned the 7Gs. When my arm was healthy, my favorite setup in the 7G was Weiss Cannon Black 5 Edge 17 mains with Genesis Thunder Blast 16 crosses at 52/56 pounds.
