Pure Storm Tour GT

Played a practise match with pure storm tour gt today. Those two hours of playing were also my first with this raquet. Gt tour felt pretty much the same raquet as Pure Storm and Pure control. Maybe a little bit more stable compared to two pure control tours and one pure storm tour i had already. One thing i thought i was noticing was that new GT was maybe a little less vibrant than Pure Control and definetly there were less vibration than with the Pure Storm that i own. I string with luxilon alu power @ 23 kg one pice and Gt was also strung this way.

did it feel slightly stiffer than pure storm tour? did you notice any differences on serve?

Storm Tour Gt feels maybe a little bit more powerful than Storm Tour. Reason behind that might be also that, it is new stick and has not yet lost it's elasticity. My Tour Gt is one year old and Pure Controls are little older than that. Same goes for evaluating stiffness. Newer raquet, hence stiffer. I would still say GT has some more power compared to Storm Tour or Pure Control Tour. Now that i've had more playing sessions with the GT, my feeling is still pretty much the same as the first impression. I am satisfied with the raquet. I have been playing with Pure Control Tour since 2003 and haven't found better raquet since.

So how would you rate the new one compared to the pure control 2003 aside from power? One thing I didn't like about the storm tour was how mushy it felt. How does this one feel compared, not accounting for how much use the others have been used?

are the new storm tours supposed to break easily like the old ones?

Funny you say that. A few weeks ago when I was talking to a rep, I asked him about the layup of the ltd gt. He said it is a stronger built racquet thaat you probably won't see break as much as the carbon extreme. So no they should be more durable.

No, and neither do the old ones. This is only true for those who abuse their frames through non-tennis activities.

Agreed !

I have 6 of the old PST's and 4 of the new PST GT's coming up.
Have never had any issues with the older 6 PST's.

But I've never thrown them either, maybe that helps a bit

Ok, I just played the first 2 hours of the new PST GT

I have used the PST on a fairly high level of play here in sweden and i have felt that the old PST is now an extention of my arm.

I did same setup on my new GT´s as on my old (54 lbs pros pro cyber power, 2 overgrips over the original grip and a pacific vibra ring) and then went out (or in on this day...) to play

The balance and feel when u pick the GT up is the same as on the old frame, but when playing i feel a pretty big difference. The feel of the new is much more damped. It feels like i use like 5 vibrastops when playing the new frame. The "raw" feel of the old PST is totaly gone and the new frame is much more controlled.

I felt that the new frame is a fraction lower in power and I will have to adjust for a couple of hours to get used to the new frame.

To sum it up in one sentence i could say like this " the new frame plays like the old but with powersteering and ABS"

Well I've got a few sessions in with the new PSTGT, and I like it quite a bit more than the last PST, and that is simply because of the feel. It feels much more solid to me now. I felt the last PST had a "mushy" feel and made an odd sound at contact. The GT version still has a soft feel but it lost the mushiness. The sound at impact can also be pretty explosive. I have no lack for pace or power, but I modify mine to be pretty heavy. It served great as well. I'm VERY pleased with these racquets. I don't think it does anything poorly.

So far hearing good things like this about the PST GTs. I hope to demo one soon as can. I just am glad so far they aren't a disappointment like the AeroStorms (at least imo they were).

demo'd one today....i'm loving it

i haven't played in 11 weeks because i had wrist surgery and the biggest compliment i can give this racquet is the lack of vibration without feeling mushy....

it was very very crisp and didn't hurt me at all to hit with

think i may be switching to these

So is the new pure storm tour more like the pure control, feel wise, with the comfort of the storm tour?

That would be good.

A little. I had a pure control for awhile and it was stiff. This one not at much. When I would go for the hard shot I would however experience a "firmness" in the feel that I felt was completely lacking in the PST, but it still had a flex to it that kept it soft. This racquet IMO is completely comfortable. I do have a lot of lead on mine however, both in the head and the handle, so take that into consideration. But it delivers zero shock to my arm while retaining great feedback and feel. And I am stringing full poly at the moment. Very pleased with these.
