Question about injury default

I am looking for information on the following situation in a USTA tournament. If a player has an injury default during a match in the main draw would they be allowed to play in backdraw matches or do they default from the tournament? Same question if it is a round round robin tournament where essentially all matches are main draw and they injury default during the first match - can they keep playing later matches? I couldn’t find and official ruling and have seen it both ways in tournaments.

Generally if a player retires in a first round match they can still play backdraw matches or further matches. Now if player is defaulted due to behavior then they are done with the tournament.

I know that if you withdraw from singles, you can still play doubles in the same tournament.

If you retire a match due to injury you shouldn't even consider playing tennis for a few days minimum.
