Quickest way to get rid of paintjob?

I am currently trying to re-paint a few rackets and I am sand-papering off the current paintjob on the racket. I was just wondering if there is any quicker way to remove the paint?

Thanks agassi fan, I thought it would be, the parts I have done so far look really nice and feel smooth, its just a shame about the time it takes. But hey I suppose you've got to put in the effort to get the good results :D

THESEXPISTOL - Do you mean now? or after I have done? I will definately post some pics up once I have completed them.

Quickest is to use paint remover. I forgot the chemical name. Just go to a hardware store.

Be very careful when using it. Although it comes in gel-like form, it is very volatile and very corrosive. Wear gloves, eye protection and long sleeves shirt and use in a well-ventilated area. I've had some on my hands and I can tell you that it burns like hell.

Also, take note: DO NOT open the can with your face right over it. The lid could just pop right into your face. I happened to me.

When applied, DO NOT leave it on the racket for too long. Max it off between 3-4 hours otherwise you could inadvertently destroy some of the resin that holds the graphite fibers. (No that bad though). Then wash off under running water, using steel wool to lightly rub off the paint. Reapply if need be.

You can then slowly sand off the reluctant paint later, just be careful not too over-apply pressure or you'll have a part of the racket "eaten up".

Enjoy!

that is the best way if u want them to turn out good

Do you even know what your talking about? Have you ever repainted a frame?

Many people on here have done great paintjobs using paint remover.

Here is what I did to remove the paint from a RDS 002 that had plenty of paint chips on it.
I laid down a layer of aluminum foil and then painted the racquet with the Klean-Strip Paint Remover (15 mins activation formula.) I then encased the racquet with more aluminum foil and let it set aside for 8-10 hours. After that I used some steel wool and Remover Wash to wipe off all the paint. This really removed all the paint without any sanding, if you leave the remover on for a longer time, the paint will come off easier but I don't know how much this will affect the racquet's composition. Let me know if you need any more help.

Paint stripper is the easiest. I have stripped mine and sanded the extra down and clearcoated it to completion.

Bringing up this thread again as I have now pretty much completed the 'blacking out' of my dunlops :D, it was a long and tedious process but I am very happy with the results. All I have left to do is give them my coach so he can put the headguards on them (I couldn't do it myself), they will then be strung with Polystar Energy. I will try and post pictures of what they look like currently but I can't seem to find the camera at the moment :s

Thanks NolemurraY
