Racquettune Problem

Hi all,

I have two racquets that I've strung within the last 2 weeks. Each was strung @ 60 lbs. Using my Gamma STT they show approx. 53-55 lbs currently. Racquettune shows both at 41.3. They are strung differently (one full NXT, one NTX/GOGSM), and I have the racquet correctly entered and select the appropriate string setup for each racquet.

I'm pretty sure if they were really all the way down to 41 they'd be useless to me, but I'm still hitting pretty well with them. Any tips on why Racquettune is so far off?

I just checked an O3 Royal I have strung recently, also @ 60 lbs. Changed the racquet and string info, and surprise surprise, it reads 41.3 lbs. Coincidence?

These programs are not designed to measure the actual tension you strung your rackets at. They are mostly for measuring tension loss. So, when you string your rackets, measure the tension, keep that as a reference (without caring how much it is) and when you take future measurements, you will know how much tension dropped since freshly strung.

I agree. The app is best for relative tension measurement. It's not a reference.

That being said, your Gamma STT measurement is probably inaccurate also (either that or your stringing machine). If you read TW's review on NXT, they measured a 19% tension loss after 2 weeks and 12 hours of play. They called it "impressive tension maintenance for a multifilament string" so it was by no means out of the ordinary.

Did you measure the string factor using a 30 pound test weight when you entered the string, or did you just take the defaults? This calibration procedure is not really necessary if you just want to measure relative tension loss, but it should increase accuracy if that's what you want. It still won't be dead on accurate because variations in head shape and string pattern from one racquet model to another will affect the measurement also.

I am a regular user of Racquetune and have been since March.
It has worked great for me and been very consistent. Any issues I would suggest contacting "stoneage" aka, Sten.

Search him by user name and shoot him an email with issues. He is very responsive and always looking for ways to improve Racquetune, as well as his other APP tools..
