Nadal not doing great at this time of the year is not unusual at all.

Rafa is doing great at this time of the year... won USO, won Tokyo.

Melzer was just too good. No excuses. Rafa needs to improve still... whether it's his playing technique or his scheduling or whatever... no excuses.

Absurd, typical trolling post is more like it. Just like people saying Fed lost to Djokovic at the USO on purpose. I honestly don't understand people who think that way.

It was meant to illustrate the absurdity of the original accusation by reversing it onto their favored player. It is not meant to be taken in a straight forward manner, but rather to be a subtle parody. As such, it is a brilliant commentary on their hypocrisy.

No, it simply looks silly like the other and the boards could do without either one.

That's the ugly truth. Why is it trolling, if you don't agree with someone's opinion ?

I disagree. Once the original statement is made, the following one no longer belongs in the same category as its antecedent. Cynical comedic parody is a time-honored method of highlighting stupidity.

Exactly.... when has Rafa won the US Open before? When is the last time he won something in October? Jesus.

Rafa should have rested, but who cares about these tournaments? After the USO the season is essentially over. At least it is for me. The next tournament of importance is the Australian. Rafa's just padding points. He doesn't need to win any of these tourneys, imo. Tokyo was just icing on the cake.

I don't even know why they play these stupid things at all.

Me either. It seems that usually at this part of the year they rested and let the Davydenkos, Berdyches, and Nalbandians of the tour take these last Master's series. After the last major, I'm worn out. I don't see how they aren't.

A few million has a way of perking your step again. But yeah, we need some kind of tournament for those guys to win so they don't feel bad. They should call it the junior tour though.

Money talks

I agree that the season needs to be tweaked but Nadal's constant whining in the past few days lost some credibility for me now that I learned he played Thailand and Japan primarily for the appearance fee. He's not required to go to those two but Shanghai is mandatory for all top players. If he were not so hungry for the $2 million, he could have relaxed for 2 weeks before Shanghai. You know what, ATP is pondering over shortening the season by 2 weeks. Nadal could have done it himself, but oh, he needed the exact cash to cover some bills.

He wants less mandatory tournaments for top players. Sounds like that means more opportunities to go moonlighting at the non-mandatory ones, like what he just did.

You should all be amazed Rafa lasted this long. I thought he would go out in the last tournament. Instead he won it!

Because its mandatory to play Masters unless you have 600 matches, 12 years in tour like Roger.

Have Nadal make it to 23 consecutive Grand slam semi-finals then talk to me

Since when are Tokyo and Thailand Masters tournaments? Or did you just need an excuse to point out Fed's superiority?

We really have to stop making such a big deal with each and every sentence these guys say. Imagine if our character was judged by each and every chance remark we made, even years back.

Is it such a sin to be tired :)

It's simply absurd to think pros are this level are going to lose money and points intentionally just because they are afraid of facing Player X. I don't see how a tennis fan could honestly think that.
