Assume the complete Federer doesn't exist. Assume we just have this player named Federer and we take into account his achievements as a 30+ year old only.

Where would you rank him in the Open Era all time? NOTE: Not ranked against other players' careers over 30 but against other players' entire careers.

  • 2 slam titles (tied for 20 in the Open Era)
  • 5 slam Total finals (tied for 17 in the Open Era)
  • 12 total slam SFs (tied for 13th in Open Era)
  • 1 WTF (tied for 6th in Open Era)
  • 4 WTF finals (tied for 5th in Open Era)
  • 9 Masters Series titles (tied for 10th in Open Era)
  • 15 total Masters series finals
  • 24 titles
  • 42 total finals

317-62 overall record (83.6% but this can't be given as much weight since we don't have the typical results from a teenager's early round struggles as he attempts to ascend).

  • 16 weeks at #1 (16th all time)
  • 69 weeks at #2
  • 95 weeks at #3
  • 22 weeks at #4
  • 8 weeks at #5
  • 40 weeks at #6 through #10

  • 85 weeks in the top 2
  • 180 weeks in the top 3
  • 202 weeks in the top 4
  • 210 weeks in the top 5
  • 250 weeks in the top 10

He's top 15-20 all time (open era) for sure. The two majors, multiple finals, multiple WTF finals and one title, multiple M1K wins, weeks at #1, Olympic silver medal, etc. I think if he's able to win another major, he could have a top 12-15 open era type of resume in his 30s only, which is insane to think about.

Just as a 30+ player, as in what he's done since passing 30, Federer would be Top 20 Open Era for sure.
He was even playing well enough in 2014 and 15 to have added to his GS total with a bit more self-belief facing Novak and with taking a few chances better. Even in 2016 before his injury, Fed had shown enough at the Slams to be considered a contender.
If he keeps this form going at 35+, Roger will prove to be one of the greatest players over 30 years of age and 35, all-time, never mind just Open Era.

It would be easier for us if he won 2 more slams. There are not many players in the Open Era won 4 or more slams.

As of now, Roger is #2, behind Rosewall as a past 30 player. At the beginning of the open era Rosewall was 33.5 years old. From 33-39 Ken won 4 slams, reached 4 other finals and two WCT titles plus at least 20 other titles. On the pro tour, 30-33 he won 3 pro slams, plus other titles. For me, tennis began at the end of World War Two.

Top 15. Behind Murray, slighly behind Hewitt, along with Wawrinka and Safin. The only chance to 30+ yo Federer is to be considered along with the Courier/Murray group is another Slam and the YE#1.

He's ahead of both Wawarinka and Safin. Wawa won one more slam, but is worse st just about everything else. Safin's career is somehow much worse then Fed's 30+ year.

Raja is winning the arms race. The Wilson rocket scientist racquet engineers worked diligently with Raja during his extended break to finally finish project bazooka in time for Raja to create some 35-40 yrs records with his bigger and betterer bazooka.

Coming to think about it, he's over Stan and Safin, I forgot that Roger won 2 GS, 1 Masters, 9 M1000s and 24 titles overall, along with a little stretch at N°1 (17 weeks), which is better than Safin and Wawrinka combined.
Still behind Hewitt and much behind than Murray, thought.
