Well, you heard the title. I was out hitting today against a person who I rarely beat. In fact, for those that have viewed my other post (the one about playing your nemesis), I have beaten him 3 times out of the 40+ times we've played. The times I did beat him were close games. Well, I beat him today...6-1, 6-1. I felt great today...seemed like everything was working in perfect balance, with maybe the exception of my first serve percentage, which was about 30%.
In any case, this is not the subject of this post, just some background. I was playing with a Hurricane/Synthetic Gut setup and during the pre-match warmup, I jokingly hit a hard return off of a hard serve. I snapped my Hurricane string (2 mains actually). I was probably at the 10 hour mark playing with that racket before the strings broke. Has anyone ever had this happen to them? I played with Hurricane strings for a brief time (a month) last summer and I found them IMPOSSIBLE to break. But, I suppose they do break. Anyone else feel my pain?
