Poor Raonic. Can't seem to stay healthy for long.
Had a great start to 2016 with a title in Brisbane and a SF at the Australian Open. Unfortunately he's now withdrawn from Delray Beach with a right adductor injury.

In other news, Tommy Haas has also withdrawn from Delray Beach

Not good news for Raonic. He seems destined to have his career derailed through persistent injuries!:(

Re Haas: I honestly can't see how he can remain on the tour for much longer. He's 37 years old, ranked #372 in the world and hasn't made it past the 1st round of any event since 2015 Wimbledon.
You've had a great career but time to call it a day, Tommy!

A real pity. Such a solid start to the season and this could potentially ruin some kind of a breakthrough of a younger player that some fans have been desperate to see. I hope he won't have these problems prior to Wimbledon, there he has a chance of another deep run.

Players quaking in the boots at the return of Delpo. On a serious note, raonic injured only hurts tennis.

This article was posted today. Apparently Raonic can't even train, looks like he'll be out of the game for a few months if he can't even step foot on a court!
He hopes to play Acapulco, I doubt it though...

Canadian tennis player Milos Raonic has been unable to resume on court training due to a slightly torn adductor muscle that hampered his play in a Semi Final loss to Andy Murray at the Australian Open last month.

Raonic had difficulty pushing off his right leg in the later stages against with the Brit coming back from 2 sets to 1 to win the epic encounter. He said he has been able to do strength work and off-court training since then but hasn’t hit balls because of the two-centimetre tear in the adductor.

“I’ve been able to push myself somewhat in the fitness aspect of it and now I have to see how it translates to the court,” Raonic said. There is no date set to mark his return and the Canadian plans to meet again with doctors in the coming days and is hoping to get clearance to resume on-court sessions next week.

The Canadian remained optimistic and said that there is a chance he’ll be ready in time to play at the ATP World Tour 500 Series stop in Acapulco, Mexico which takes place later this month. “I wish I could have pushed even further in Australia,” Raonic said. “But I believe in upcoming events I’ll have even more opportunity to do even better.”

Despite the injury, Raonic might participate in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game at the Ricoh Coliseum. He’ll play on a Canadian team that will feature former NBA players Tracy McGrady and Rick Fox, Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler, former WNBA star Tammy Sutton-Brown, actors Kris Wu, Stephan James, Tom Cavanagh and television personalities Drew and Jonathan Scott.

Raonic said he has always been a big fan of Toronto’s NBA club and loved watching former Raptors stars Vince Carter and Damon Stoudamire back when they starred with the team.“I’ve been asking if there is any way I can play in the NBA celebrity game for three or four years now,” he said. “It just worked out that it came in Toronto and I was like, ‘I’ve got to be a part of this.’”

He needs a proper general preparation and then he needs to maintain it. By assessing his body type one could realise that he has not been doing enough, and when you are not doing enough you get injured. Many of my athletes were injury free or very rarely got injured but we usually had 12 weeks of general preparation. OK tennis is a different sport but it can be done.

Gutted :( Whenever he gets on a hot streak this happens. A shame as he's a talented player.

I can't help but think that if this keeps on happening, then it suggests he's playing beyond his ability during his 'hot streaks'.

He needs to find a way to balance getting the most out of his game without giving himself an injury.

Players will inevitably pick up niggles, and careful scheduling should manage those, giving the body a chance to repair the damage from regular wear and tear, but if you keep having to take time off then it suggests more of an underlying problem.

It's a shame, because we could do with Raonic to step up his game, but it's no good if that means he has to withdraw from every second tournament.
