Recommendation for racquet for beginner women

My daughter want to start with tennis. She doesn't played any racquet sports. This should be the first time for her.

I thought that a junior frame should fit but I do not know if is right! What kind of frame should we look after?

Daughters husband have a Dunlop Revelation 200G Pro Mid Plus (I don't was able to find any specification for the frame) who is very easy to play with. On the frame I couldn't find any info! Is this frame fit a female beginner?

Thanks in advance!

This one?

It was considered a very good racquet in its time. It’s not overly heavy for a teenager, but too much for a child. The 90 square inch head size is somewhat smaller than most modern racquets. If you just want something to play around with, have it restrung and have at it. If she gets interested and wants to play more seriously, you will probably want to get a more modern model.

Yes this is the frame! Do you know the specifications?

When I tested it I didn't realized that it was so little. I play with 98, 100 and 104 sq.in. frames and I didn't have any problems to hit with it.

Other recommendations for this case?

I forget to say: my daughter is in she's mid 30's. In other she is not a teenager. I mean that a beginner adult may need another kind of racquet than a teenager.

I’ve a nice condition copy of this racquet... I like it and wouldn’t mind getting another one. It plays fairly nicely / softly in stock form of the ball isn’t coming in too fast (4.0 and below level, id say). For heavier hitting (4.0/4.5 and above level), I put a leather grip on and added tungsten putty under the trap door, so it’s at 355g now. (Alternatively, I could trade mine for a ProStaff 6.0 original (85 sq in size) Taiwan version in nice condition. That old thing still rocks. :) )

Excuse the lack of formatting. In every way other than head size, it’s inline with many current racquets. It could be argued that the smaller head might result in more accuracy from a beginner. I would put new strings in it and see how she likes it.

If she wants a new model, or finds the Dunlop too heavy, the standard logic is to give beginners large and light models, such as this example (there are many others)

My daughters husbands racquet (Rev 200G) already have new B Addiction.

I want to find models who are a little bit older but who is possible to fins grommet sets to buy. Older frames are cheaper and fit a beginner. Which other ideas do you have?

It is possible that the frame is 95 sq. in. or maybe more? What is written on the paper label on the racquet?

I strongly think that the racquet who they have is 95 sq. in.!

Again: on the frame is no info about the characteristics but It seams that the head is bigger than 90 sq. in.!!! On the net I found a variety of different head size, even 100 sq. in.!!!

There are/were several models in the Revelation 200 line, and they did have different head sizes. The MP version is definitely 90 sq in.

I would get her something of at least 100 sq in. Most manufacturers have them at that size for a reason--they are popular, they hit well, they're not overly large or too small. They usually have plenty of power, but in today's game, you won't necessarily grow out of them. Look at some of the year old frames on TW. They're a lot cheaper.

Most beginners use anywhere from 100-115 frames. I wouldn’t get her anything less than a 100. As a beginner she’ll need the headsize to be more forgiving for mishits. I wouldn’t get anything over 10 ounces strung. My wife just started playing. I got her the Boost Drive.

I thought that it was your racquet/photo, ha ha, therefore I ask about the label on it! :) My impression, after I measure the head, is that it should be at least 95 sq. in. The RA is better on Rev but I want to go even lower, under 60!

That was my goal: a bigger racquet! I start to think that 2015 Blade 104 is a good choice. I play with this my self!

It's a good idea but this frame have to high RA. The RA value on 2015 Blade 104 is 58-59 and I think should be more adequate.

My manager's daughter was learning to play about 10 years ago and asked for suggestions so I just gave her an old Radical Oversize Team from my closet. I think that it was 108 sq inches, something like 10 to 10.5 ounces. I'd imagine that there are comparable frames out there like it.

Has her hit with Rev 200GPMP? what did she said? How she feels it?

The idea is very new. She should go tomorrow at the tennis club in the neighbourhood. She let me know.

We didn't live in the same city. Not even on the same continent, ha ha.

If her husband has multiple rackets then she should use one of them until she learns how to play.

Thanks for answers

She test for now the Rev 200G and she like IT. We see in a couple of months what she want to choose.
