respect to novak

He certainly did not play great all the time but mentally this was a very hard challenge for him.

he had just lost 3 slam finals in a row and now he was facing a 32 yo federer who was in great form for his age but still anyone expected novak to win it.

this was an absolute "must win" match for novak and he came through even though it was very close. a lost would have meant the 4th slam final loss in a row and would have been a huge dissapointment.

maybe not the greatest tournament for novak but he proved to be mentally tough and fought through (also against cilic and dimitrov). great mental effort after a dissapointing 2014 until wimbledon.

I am also overjoyed that we put 2 very annoying myths to rest with this win:
1- Novak can only win AO
2- Novak is a 1 season wonder

I am looking forward to getting a break from those for a while.
Well done Novak!
7 slams and counting...

Right. Those two were very annoying indeed. I am very glad they are put to rest now, together with the other two:
1. Novak lacks variety to be decent grass player, is not able play on grass and is worse grass player than many other current players.
2. Novak can't win a slam final any more.

Thanks.

Yes those too. Good riddance!

This was the most emotional win of all for Novak. He was tearing up like crazy during his speech.

Oh another stupid myth we put to rest:
- Novak is a gracious loser but his win celebrations are OTT and gross... NOT
Classiest speech, classiest attitude, classiest champion right there! (In the most meaningful moment of his career).

losing at RG was humbling for Novak.
Hope he keeps the humble attitude for a while so people can accept to treat him with respect even if he is not their favorite player

I know I wanted the great man Roger to win as for leaving an aesthetic principle foot-print in tennis history, however you have to tip your hat to the Djoker here at the end of the day. He really did well in recovering there to over-come his recent demons from the past. Any regular character on the tour (Some even champions) after losing a set 5-7 when leading it 5-2 at one point, would have disintegrated, but Nole, similar to Murray at the 2012 US Open, showed immense depth of character and held his spirit strong to overcome terrible adversity.

That win will probably prove the most significant win he'll EVER have of his career. Never mind winning a first grandslam title as a teenager, lifting the Davis Cup for Serbia, or even saving those two match-points twice against Federer at the Aussie and US Opens before coming back to win. This will be REALLY pinnacle, the spring board, the cushion and the momentum he simply needs to have him dominating the men's game for the rest of his career. This win is just, well, you just could not put a price on it, it's not pricable!

So I commend you Nole, as both a tennis player and a man. You overcame that traumatic period in your career, every champion has to. We can all see just how much you've aged in your face from the last two months and it's all been worth it. This inherent glitch-defect which had been growing and growing like an almost cancer-tuma in the right side of your brain? It's like it's now been successfully removed!!! You've been through your radio therapy, now you are free!!!! :yeah:

That said I'm estimating there is a probability chance of around about 5 - 10% that this cancer can return and the I'm sensing/guessing your next check-up for any signs will be in 2 months time, at the US OPEN? September? JUST ENSURE ME ONE THING! ENSURE ME! Ensure me that that ruddy moon-balling virus of a tennis player does NOT steal in, AGAIN, please?. Last year was excruciatingly painful. Show the bloke who's temple we are in when it's hard-court, *****!

I Agree, his wimbledon schedule was not a cake walk for sure, stopping the Bulgarians perfect grass court season and beating Federer on his best surface is no easy task, he has more slams in his tank left, I'll reiterate it again he is the best male all court player out there.

I also have a sense of profound justice with this win because Novak has been much better than Roger overall this season. So in view of his overall results: 3 master titles + the RG final, to me, he deserved that "season with slam" distinction so much more. Now I know that a match is not about rewarding a player for his overall form but about being the better player on the day on a specific surface but to me it is a deep satisfaction that the player who won this prestigious final was the one with the consistently highest level since... actually since Beijing 2013. I like it when logic is respected and in this case Novak winning was the most logical outcome.

U alright the green mile? Fed played at an extremely high level you should be proud.

 Im fine. I'm glad Djokovic finally won another slam, after the tough losses. Fed played much better than I thought. Oh well though... I guess it is the 2014 US for Fed. It would have been 6 years since he won it!

Once again, Djokovic showed he is the best returner in the world, his return of serve today was terrific.

To those saying he didn't play great all the time, it's true this week, he had downs in his Cilic match and also the Dimitrov match but I saw a better Djokovic in the final. That's what matters, rising your level when you really needs to.
I felt like he was dominating Federer pretty much the whole match and was quite unlucky to go into a 5th set.
