Roddick at Wimbledon

I watched Andy Roddick play some of his Queen's Club matches and apart from his explosive serving he often looked down-right ordinary against Bogdanovic and Mahut. Fortunately for him his serve was mostly unreturnable by these guys (and lots of other tour players). His ground strokes were quite tame and often found himself on the defensive and he seemed to struggle through a lot of points.

I think his serve will get him through against a lot of players but when he runs into the likes of Federer or Nadal I can't see him beating them if he continues to play like he did at Queen's.

Now that he's seeded 3 does that mean he could meet Federer or Nadal in the semis? Is there an objective rule that determines which side of the draw the 3rd and 4th seed go?

How much will Roddick close the point gap when Nadal loses in the 3rd round and Andy gets to the final?

By my calculations, Nadal would lose 625 points and Roddick would gain 625 points, so he would gain 1250 points on Nadal. Nadal would still be about 1000 points (the equivalent of a grand slam win) over Roddick.

No its not because this year, Nadal will draw Mahut and lose in the first round and Roddick will get a draw very similar to what Nadal had last year, while Fed get food poisoning and has to withdraw, allowing Roddick to earn the title.

Then how does the point spread work out?

About 600 points.

How does Roddick earn the title by Fed defaulting? Seems he wouldn't so much earn it as get lucky!
the draw is out and Roddick could face Fed in the semis. Dokavic v Nadal in semis if it goes by seeding.
Why don't they put the #1 and #4 seeds on one side of the draw and #2 and #3 on the other? It only seems fair that the guy who earned the #1 seed should have to play the "worse" of the 2. Having said that, with Fed's 13-1 record against Roddick he may savor the chance!

He would earn the title if he won 7 matches, regardless of who he played.

I seriously doubt Nadal will win Fish, clay courter, Soderling, Youzhny, Berdych in succession. Probably the first two rounds, but tricky after that.

#3 and #4 are always placed in the top/bottom half by luck of the draw.

Its kind of a bummer that Roddick is in the top half, but Federer would be ever so slightly more vulnerable in a semi than a final.
