Yes, Djoker's movement was severely restricted. No way he could have finished the set.
The reality is his usual intensity was not there yesterday.
It was sad to see him leave that way from the stadium.
I'm sure Kudla is thinking, "why didn't he retire against me?" The 4th round money and points would make a difference to him.TBH, after some news regarding his shoulder injury after 2R (he said post-match that he wasn't sure he'd be able to finish the match during set1 or set2), I thought Djokr might withdraw before playing his last match against Kudla in 3R. I feel he's risking quite a lot trying to chase the slam record, to the point of risking further injury which would make it even harder to chase the record. In that sense, today's 4R retirement isn't too surprising since he really should've considered retiring before his 3R.
Guys, not everything's about Roger.
WTF 2014 final walkover was a retirement to be precise.Incredible that he has never retired from a match in his 21 year career!
He has now retired in all four majors, and I think this brings up his career match retirements to 13 (someone can correct me if I'm wrong).
WTF 2014 final walkover was a retirement to be precise.
Formally you're absolutely right, but it's just a matter of language semantics. It can only be a retirement if you actually play a point in the match. Pulling out before the match starts is a walkover, to be precise as you so eloquently put it.
Retirements are counted in the players' win/loss records.Formally you're absolutely right, but it's just a matter of language semantics.
There's no real difference between walkover and early retirement.
Incredible that he has never retired from a match in his 21 year career!
40-15let it go. We all know its your only rebuttal. You use it even against non Fed fans because you assume everyone only loves Federer. Unlike you I don't obsess over one player.
.
Because he retired before it could happen...Novak has never lost a Slam final after having two match points on his serve either. So there’s that.
You go, Jim. Comment of the day.Federer isn't a pusssssssy.
That makes no sense whatsoeverBecause he retired before it could happen...
My man Stan uses the index finger while his next opponent use a middle finger.
Novak actually has 16 Slams but I don't think Roger will get to 40.40-15
So that is your only rebuttal to Djokovic quitting again? FYI I have seen Federer win multiple slams with 40-15. I'm pretty sure it makes me happy.
Still doesn't excuse the fact that your idol is a quitter. This is the 6th mid match retirement in majors for Djokovic. I don't obsess over one player. I actually prefer one of the next gen to win this slam.
WalkoverDidn’t Fed retire vs Blake in Paris 2008? I think that’s his only one.
Of course it was. Federer couldn't switch into gear and got smashed in his first match of the DC final 9 days after he gave the W/O. I am sure that it was just accidental consequence from feeling good and training full time while taking a break.
Guys, not everything's about Roger.
That’s OK. Much better to beat Fed at Wimbledon.
Novak has never lost a Slam final after having two match points on his serve either. So there’s that.

Yes, as we can see here in the third set, Djoker's movement was severely restricted. No way he could have finished the set.
but I don't believe that he was having debilitating pain when he decided to quit.
All players get outplayed badly at some point. Only a select few reach the final of their pet slam with two CP on their serve and manage to lose.Yeah he just gets outplayed badly.
40-15 hurts. I knowThis kid is having a tough time with Stan mauling Novak
