"I've planned all of 2016, you know all the way through the Rio Olympics and beyond," he said.

"No plans to retire yet. I don't have a definite date even though that would help to make things easier to plan."

In fact, federer's guaranteed to play until June 2017, as he signed a two year contract at Stuttgard.

Is federer still happy just reaching slam finals? When will federer retire? When should he retire?

He's still playing mightily good. He does think he still has chances to win more big titles, slams, WTF, Olympics. As long as he has chances, I think he will continue to play.

The end is not in sight.

My guess is about two years, but I think it'll be more down to family rather than fitness. In a recent interview he said he feels bad and misses his daughters and sons when he goes off to practice or play a match. Slowly, the affect of a family is dawning on him and I doubt he will be able to put up with this for much longer. Will be the right decision though. As much as I want him to carry in playing, family comes first.

Oh come on now. He travels with his wife and kids 24/7. Fed has no idea how men work in real life if they want a good living for themselves and their families. They work their a** off from dawn till dusk and when they come back they barely have the energy to hug their kids and just go to bed straight away. Federer is very fortunate to have the life he has and the talent/skills to pull it off. 99,999999% men don't.

Personally, I feel it will come down to Federer starting to lose to guys outside the top 5 on a regular basis for a longer stretch. But he's still so good at 34 that I truly believe he could carry on until he's 38-39 years old. If it wasn't for Djokovic having arguably the best season ever Federer would've pocketed 2 Slams, the WTF and 2-3 more Masters including Rome which he never won in his career. Even Connors who was known for his longevity wasn't that good at 34.

So Fed should retire because his kids don't want him to leave the room and cry a lot because he has to go for practice? Let's get some perspective here.

Man, if that was me I'd have even more motivation to leave the house. Hate crying kids.

I'm pretty sure he puts in more "work" every day than nearly anyone else does though.
He makes it look easy, but it isn't.

They'd be growing up without a proper father figure there whenever they need him. Not having your dad close to you affects you a lot when you're a kid. Plus I'm not saying he should retire due to that reason. I'm saying when he eventually does, this will be the primary reason.
