Anyone tried the black Roman Prokes NY poly that Solinco made for Roman Prokes NY? If yes could you give an description of how it plays? Is it worth it to buy it from them or is HG and HGS pretty much the same?

Lol, based on the censored title, I though it was a "f**k poly" thread, and expected a completely different trajectory. Haha.

Haven't tried the RP Solinco-made poly; heck, didn't even know it existed. Although Hyper-G Black would be phenomenal. Covert ops, way higher matchy-matchy factor, etc.

Haha yeah my bad lol. Yeah it sounds really good. Little bit softer and better color. Surprised it's not more popular among string nerds.

I’ve tried it, it’s ok. Plays similar to HG/HGS, maybe a bit more muted, less pop, same spin generation.

The only way you can get it is if you get a reel. I had a friend who knew the owners, so he get me a trial set.

From the sounds of it, probably is Hyper-G Black then (more or less).

What makes you think that?

The selling point is having R P N Y on the packaging. Solinco has some factory make this string for them, and put R P N Y on the packaging.
Remember how there was an Adidas racquet around ten years ago? They said that P1 helped them with the design of the racquet, but the racquet was a flop.

The board censors anything that could technically be a TW competitor, even with some creative formatting of some of them.

I haven't talked to them about this string in a long time but from what I recall the formulation was somewhere between Hyper G and the Confidential 3.0 string.

Thanks for the reply. However, there are significant posts on TruPro Ghostwire and TW seems to let them go. Now that I think about it…… maybe it is a Solinco issue since they want to sell what TW offers and not this one.

I’m not picking up what you’re putting down. TW is not censoring the string name, but Roman’s business, since he is a racket customizer. I think it’s one of the more obscure things that this board censors. I really don’t want to disparage anyone working in the customization department, but roman’s reputation (and price!) make it seem like they are offering quite different services.

He promoted it heavily on the Craig Shapiro podcast. I cannot imagine it is that much different than the other Solinco offerings.
