RPM Blast Team

I got a chance to string up my prestige pro with this today, and just thought I would give a quick little review on the string.

I currently play with a youtek prestige pro with polystar energy 16L strings at 54 lbs. I tried the new rpm blast team string at the same tension, and it played great.

Initially when stringing it I could tell it was on the softer side of the poly spectrum, and the first hit verified that. It had a very nice feel to it, soft for a poly, and excellent bite. Compared to regular rpm blast, it felt softer, had more feel, and more grip on the ball. I did not like the feedback I got from regular rpm, as it felt "mushy" to me.

The one thing I really liked about this string was the feel. It has a nice soft feel for a poly, but yet still the same control in my opinion as stiffer poly strings, probably due to the nice grip the string gets on the ball.

I was getting more pop on my serve, more spin, and was getting nice direction on my kick serves. Slice backhands felt amazing, I felt very connected with the ball and could place it anywhere on the court with pinpoint accuracy.

The tension loss believe it or not was not noticeable after two hours of play. I know co polys usually lose their tension rather fast, but this string seemed to play the same from start to finish.

I have tried many strings over the past few years but I like this string the best overall. For someone looking for a poly on the softer side, with good overall feel and great spin potential I would definitely recommend this string. It is on the pricy side, but that is to be expected.

How was string movement after hitting? Any need to reposition the strings?

If you pull a main string across a cross string does the main snap back into position smoothly and on its own?

Finally, if you pull a cross string across a main, do you need to push it back into place and/or do you hear and feel a clicking noise when the cross goes back into place?

If I remember correctly, this version was described as supposedly having some sort of "air injection" or "air pocketing" to make it more comfortable......

You say, it has even more bite or spin than rpm blast ? does that mean this is also textured ? how is that possible ?

Tried it in the 2012 pure drive as a demo. Normally don't like poly, but really didn't mind this. Not near as soft as multi.

I have not noticed any string movement, but I never notice much strong movement with poly.

I played with it again today, so I would say a total of four hours of play and the tension seems to be holding up pretty well.

It has micro-air bubble injections. That is the only difference between it and normal rpm. It does generate more spin, but it is slightly less durable. Not sure what the price point is going to be but it will likely be the same i would imagine.

I did feel livelier than the regular rpm, although I only tried rpm once, so I really don't remember it that well, just that it felt mushy.

I know it is coming out soon, but I don't know exactly when. The head pro where I teach got some from fromoth, they already have it in stock, so I'm sure it wont be long until TW and other carriers have it.

What guage did you try, 16 or 17?
Thanks.

What about RPM Blast on mains and RPM Team on crosses? Bite of regular RPM where it counts and the cushioning of the Team version for the crosses?

That's exactly what I'm about to try. Blast 18 in the mains, Team 17 in crosses.

I've used both the team and blast in 1.25. I don't get the marketing. The team feels more firm to me. The team seems to hold tension a little better. I generated more spin with the blast. I strung the team at 52 and it felt tighter than cyclone at 54. I like them both but wouldn't pay that much after using other more reasonably priced competitors.

The thing is, the TEAM is much stiffer than the blast (something like 280 vs 230), but you don't notice it that much because of the air bubbles injection, or whatever they did. That's the reason it's also lower-powered. It's a better control string than the Blast to me, but the feel is not as good because of the stiffness.

My local shop dropped the price of team to 15 bucks INCLUDING the price of stringing... so this may be my chance to try it out haha
