Ouanna is gonna get his ass kicked by the next guy he plays. Safin beat himself as much as anything else.

Gonzalez is gonna stomp a mud hole in his ass.
You're boring

It was nice to see Monfils getting down there almost at courtside at one point to cheer for a friend and fellow player, I really think it's that camaraderie within the french structure that's helping them produce so many quality players of late.

two five-setters in a row. this one alone was enough to kick his butt. he might not have the legs in the next match, but at least he will have the crowd.u can pencil in gonzo for the 4th round. I think Ouanna might be done after this match.
Yea i hope this guy moves up...he's got some fight in him

definitely, that's back to back 5 setters he's come through.
I'm not sure how high he could go, it's hard to tell when guys come out and get a crowd behind them, we'll have to see if he can keep getting results in the challengers and so on I guess after this.
I shall go try read some more on him to find out a bit more about what injury troubles he had and whether they could plausibly have slowed his development or not.
^ he stated he thinks his favourite surface is grass, so it'd be interesting to see if he can get through qualifying to reach the main draw there.
I think this win should bump him up to around 120 in the rankings.
I just thought as well, if he was to make the main draw at wimby, the FFT might then be tempted to give him their one wildcard for the USO as well. An appearance out of 3 of the 4 slams could really help stand him in good stead
One more thing: This match was a convincing proof that the Madrid SF between Nadal and Djokovic did not last 4 hours.
I mean, the Safin match lasted about 4:30, had 2 TBs (like in Madrid) and 2 more "regular" sets, and one deciding set that ended 10-8.
Anyone who claims the Madrid SF lasted 4 hours is in denial.
I thought I heard one of the commentators say that a win would put him just inside the Top 100. I may be wrong, but I swear I heard it. I think Top 100 would almost mean automatic entry into Wimbledon (assuming, of course, he's still at that ranking when the Wimbledon draw is posted) Isn't the automatic entry cutoff for Slams usually around No. 96 or 100?
I'm completely heartbroken.
Agreed.

Perhaps if Marat would switch to a bigger head size racquet...
Oh please. Very rarely did I see him shank balls here. In fact, many of his errors were because of him spraying balls. As always with Safin, the case is mental.
Nonsense.
I watched that match from the first till the last minute and also my watch showed me it was 4 hours later after that match was finished.
End of discussion.
