Serena Williams, who hasn’t competed since winning Wimbledon because of a foot injury, says she’s aiming to return to the tour in mid-May. Williams, who had her walking boot taken off sometime in the past few weeks, hopes to be back on the practice court soon. "My foot feels good and I'm starting to train right away, and I intend to be back for the French Open," Williams told the New York Post. If Williams, who is currently ranked No. 11, doesn't come back until Roland Garros, she'll see her ranking drop somewhere out of the Top 17, as she is defending points at Rome and Madrid.

I hope she intends to play the Premier events leading up to this also, like Madrid and Rome. Hopefully she can build her form up on the clay in preparation for her Wimbledon defense.

I do think the tour is in a good place at the moment. Serena, Justine, Venus being injured and Kim playing a light schedule has allowed the WTA over the last 6-8 months has allowed players like Wozniacki, Zvonareva, Stosur, Kvitova etc to get more exposure (quite rightfully so too).

Stosur will win it I think, so she's not gonna get back to the top so soon you know.

plus, Kim has dominated since USO so I don't know what you mean by light schedule exactly.

if u look at serena at the Oscar party, she does not look outta shape at ALL.... :D she actually looks quite fit..and plus that, she's back to training right away so i think it s more about working off the rust, plus fitness,..but i think its more "rust removal" lol

Glad to hear that she’s back. It’s better to have every players in action.

Now for your bold part...Kim was on a terror including the 3 mega events(AO, YEC, USO). Beating Vera, Stosur, Caro, Kvitova, Venus, Azarenka. It’s Kim that denied these players to shine, not Serena. ;-)
