Smooth vs. shaped poly for multifilament hybrid

I am looking for a budget hybrid setup for the springtime, and for experimentation.

I usually play Head Velocity MLT in the cold weather and Hyper-G in the summer.

I was considering to hybrid these two for comfort and control, butI was not sure if Hyper-G’s edges would saw the MLT very quickly.

And if Hyper-G is going to cut, are there any other smooth polys in the similar range of spin potential, comfort and tension maintenance that would work better?

How would you hybrid, witch string for the mains ?

Instead of hybriding with multi, you can try to cross HG with TO Ghostwire 1.10mm (+) or Pro's Pro Black Force 1.14mm (+)
These are cross strings. May be try once to see if you like.

Kirschbaum max power is the best cross I have found to work with head velocity mains.

I think this HG/Velocity is worth a try. Hyper g isnt super sharp and velocity holds up pretty well. Both great strings so why not give it a try

depends how heavy of a topspin player u are...as a 4.5 aggressive baseliner, I shred thru nonpoly cross outer coating in a heartbeat

I did Pro's Por Red Devil in the mains with Velocity in the crosses. I hit with it last night (~1 hour) and so far so good.

Could also try Isospeed Baseline as a cross in any of four gauges. Quality string at a very good price, and very durable. I’ve found that even a sharp poly slides pretty well on it. If you don’t mind a really gaudy look, Weiss Cannon Power Principle adds some pop to a spin oriented poly and is also very slick so the poly slides and snaps back well.
