sound familiar?

Head Microgel Prestige Midplus
Babolat Pure Storm Ltd
Dunlop Aerogel 200
Wilson Kblade Tour
Technifibre TFight 320

all have around ~12ozs static weight, 18x20 stringbed, 325ish swingweight, ~8pts headlight, ~20mm beam width..

I think that the Head Pro Tour started all of this nonesense and look at whats happening!

You're really trying to make this theory work but it won't...

These racquet are not identical! All racquet specs including composition make racquets unique! 100% Graphite, Graphite/Kevlar, Graphite/Fiberglass are important when it comes to the racquets feel.

The stiffness varies from 56 to 64!!! That is a difference!

Balance varies from 6 HL to 10 HL... 4 HL is almost the same for you?

Re-check the racquets you mentioned...

Also all factors make the racquets mentioned above play differently!

It's too broad, try to narrow it down.

But, I'd say there's only 2 imitations as far as i remember.

1. Head extreme pro = yellow pure drive.

2. Wilson Nblade = Wilson's interpretation of Radicals.

though I agree with you on general terms I disagree that it is nonsense. why is it nonsense? because it works?

Yes the Pro Tour started all this so what? Two pros designed this concept, they knew what they were doing and the formula was a success till this day. It was the foundation for all that followed. The MP's 95-98 with 18X20 thin beam frames happen to be the most popular and widely used on both ATP and WTA tours today.

for the rest: "really big difference in specs" is all relative

For example If you look at the MP 98's with 18X20 thin beam frames from Caymen Heat and Topspin , Major, Tecnifibre you would notice the similarity of the MOLD . They are clones, sure they differ in flex and layup, material but the OP was talking in general terms. Of course two frames are not going to be %100 identical, just by looking at the prestige MP line and you will know that they are different, but they all have similar general characteristics.

basically another poster from another thread put it nicely, they are Pro Tour wannabes rather than clones

head shape, flex and feel are very different with all of these rackets--
also 93-98 sq inch heads, and frames
19-21 mm.
They are players' frames--so similar only in that respect

and the radical was a knockoff of the POG.

Prince Speedport Black is clearly Prince's attempt at the Pure Drive.

I played a tournament two weekends ago and was surprised by the number of good players using Speedport Blacks.

Manufacturers have "cloned" each other for years, basically forever.

Wilson yellow Surge was wilson first attempt at the PD

The question is what inspired Thomas Muster and Emilio Sanchez to come up with the Pro Tour? The mids from HEAD were very successful like the edge, the subsequent frames that followed it were the Prestige mids. Only they also had an OS HEAD which was called the the director. I think and IMO when they designed the Pro Tour they wanted something like the Head Edge, Professional etc... but with more room to hit since they were clay court specialists
