Cheer up, the OGM is hardly critical for a player’s legacy, slams are a million times more important and your guy has 20. It’s a bit hard to complain about a year when he’s won 3 majors already.

Yeah I agree with you on this. I am more than happy with Djokovic season so far even if he wins nothing else in 2021. Us Djokovic fans probably got a little greedy and it’s a reminder that nothing is certain in sports. Things can change fast and another example today.

Of course it matters a lot to Djokovic, just as it desperately mattered to Fed. Since both have won virtually everything in tennis, it’s the only “hole” in their careers. But the fact remains an OGM is trivial except to the individual player.
Djokovic will never win an OGM in singles, it’s not going to hurt his legacy one bit. He’s still the favorite at the USO and the CYGS!

It sucks, this was a great opportunity, but like I said after he won Roland Garros, Novak is playing with house money and it wouldn't affect his legacy if he didn't win another tournament this year. That win did 10 times more for his legacy than olympic gold would have.

Probably too late for him now to get gold considering he 37 and it on clay his weakest surface. Still I’d much rather he lost this than the french or Wimbledon this year.
He won the slams to equal Fedal and that’s what matters the most. This would have been the cherry on top but it’s not gonna affect his legacy. It just means Rafa out of the big 3 wins the Olympics bragging rights. Murray the Olympic GOAT though.

Probably, since Novak had to play two matches the past few days, with little rest in between. That is not easy for a 34 year old, even in today's game. I think Novak hit a brick wall in the second set and could not cope with Zverev's improved aggressive game. Novak should not have entered the mixed doubles competition. Hopefully, he can win his singles Bronze match tomorrow. To win the Bronze mixed, as well, would be icing on the cake. Losing both matches would be a tough pill to swallow.
