Nice collection...some I've never seen in the States.

Your Comp Pro would have a bumper guard by the mid-late '80s, if sold here in the US. Did many Euro rackets stay 'bumper-less' into the late 80s ?

I really like the "Director Bag" designation. Just in case you forgot it was a "Director" or a "Bag". :)

Yes, the European Graphite Pro and Comp Pro had molded-in Bumper Guards.

*Edit: The first version of the Graphite Pro (black) and Comp Pro (dark grey) sold in the U.S. in 1986 were bumper less (had the molded-in bumper guard). The turquoise Graphite Pro and the White Comp Pro that came out a year later were had the bumper guards.

The protection was integrated, under the paint. In other words, the graphite was protected for a bit, but not the paint. Exterior, replaceable bumpers were and are a clear improvement.

Agree with assessment of Euro bags -- "Director Bag!"

Yes: Graphite Edge, Graphite Director, Composite Edge, Composite Director, original version Graphite and Composite Pro... and the European models corresponding to those moulds in the 1982-1986 era. The "molded-in bumper guard" was two thin strips of plastic built in beneath the paint. Basically, it was a wearing surface before the graphite and fiberglass was reached.

Did the XRC also have this? Seems like there was something under the paint on the top of the hoop. I might be mis-remembering the GE.

I had an XRC in my collection a while back, and I suspect it has this feature too, although I honestly can't confirm.

For everyone's information, Head's first external plastic bumper guards (incorporated with the grommet system) were on the 1984-1985 TXE and TXD. The 1986 TXP and Prestige Pro (for Europe) had the first "C.A.P." external bumper guard, and then virtually all of the 1987 Head models had an external plastic bumper guard of some sort.
