"Spin that" - Wilson N six one 95

Hi,

First Thread, First Question :D

What about the "Spin-Potential" of the N six one 95?
Immo I am playing the n six one tour, but the headsize is too small (90 sqinch).
Immo i am looking for "Control and Spin" Racquet...
Is the 95 the right Racquet?

thank you Chris

It is a great racquet, comes in a few different forms, 333gm 16x18 & 18x20 plus a team version and a NPS version.

The 333gm model are very solid sticks with big spin and huge serve, the 18x20 has much better control and doesnt lose much in spin either.

i've hit with both and definitely prefer the 18x20. it has a great amount of control and good spin for a dense pattern.

what's your set up? or best yet, what do you want it to be? String type, balance, etc... what is your style of play?

i just switched to the n6.1 95 and control is there and the spin potential is there also... the racquet is not terribly stiff, it's good for baseline play and is equally as good around the net. feel is above average as this style racquet goes, but remember it's lineage... so compared to a PS 6.0 or PSC 6.1 i think the n6.1 fares well...

I like the N95 a lot. I've been using it lately for doubles and singles, although the control is a bit lacking compared to the 90 sq. in. frame that I usually use.

Spin is no problem. And it serves bombs.

I am using the N code 90...
Headsize is too small.

Most of timt I am playing Spin and likes to put pressure on my opponent from the baseline.

I would prefer the 16 x 18 version.

I purchased a n95 a while back, it was one of those racquet as soon as i picked up it felt nice. Even just picking a ball up and starting a rally the very first hit was great

It has great spin and i tend to put a lot of topspin on my shots

Great frame...massive serving potential and a great volley stick. My fav 6.1 racket...used them on and off for about a year. Both string patterns are good for spin and they are just rock solid. Main issue is the SW for me...they are pretty hard to swing...also can feel too stiff with poly. Wilson made a mistake with the K6.1...they should have just updated the paintjob of the N.

I agree with Nick completely. I bought one cause it was on sale at my shop and havent put it down since. I feel it does everything well. It can be a but sluggish at times, but has good power to make up for that sometimes. I also feel that despite it not being a flexible frame, it is a comfortable one and I have never had an arm problem from it.

was my frame before i stepped up to a k90. awesome stick, can do anything you want provided you can do it to begin with. wont hinder any part of your game if you have the strength to move it around. A lot like the k90, in regards to its "complete"-ness. Just its power-hungry cousin.

Re the NSixOne95, isn't it meant to be a little slow to move around?

Maybe at stock... but with a little weight or leather on the handle to help out the HL, it moves fine. I use mine for singles and doubles with no problems. the only gripe i would have and this may be more of my technique is trying a "flick" shot, just a quick whip from the wrist to generate a shot... but that is something i rarely do, so...

the n as compared to the PSC 6.1... at stock, not as much HL... not as stiff... a touch more power, but it's a different power, probably due to the n being less stiff... i think the n generates better forehand topspin, but the PSC slices better with the backhand... love them both, but the n paint job chips off too easy :) :(

the Pro Staff Classic??? let's see... i used to play the white butt cap version, both "si" and non "si", no difference really... the PSC i feel cuts at and through the ball better. backhanders at the net are best with the PSC. PSC produces better flat type shots. the PSC's feel is stiffer but response is faster... it's a tight racquet

the n6.1 95 is a solid racquet... feels less stiff. produces power easier. the control is still up there butstill less than the PSC. the n6.1 i feel is more forgiving... off center shots aren't as bad... serving with the n is still very nice, but for sniper like accuracy i would have to give the nod to the PSC, but the n possesses some good pop.... the n produces more spin from either side, top-spin that is... the PSC slices and punches better.

if you can get your hands on a white butt cap PSC in good condition, get it! try them side by side... both are tops in my book... i started playing with the PSC well over 10 years ago and judge all other racquets by the PSC. :)

My son will carry the N6.1 into D-1 play this fall-he wouldn't hit anything else.

Soon he will be one of those guys always banging on about that great vintage frame, the N6.1.

The "K" is an abomination-the K6.1 that is. The big red dubya let us down with that frame.

The K90 rocks.

i used to have a really nice psc white conditioned one till a friend murdered it.

thought it had bomb serves and all around just the world solid came to mind.
I recently got the ncode because i heard minimal difference and that i could use as backups or something. I felt it wasnt at solid but i could make the switch in a match

jc it seems like you favor the psc over n95

i'm not as fast as i once was and my swing too... if i still had the game and i was in better shape i would use the PSC... since i can't get to the net as fast or react as fast... i find myself hanging around the baseline more, i still s&v a bit... i am more comfortable with the n6.1 because of this. the n is a bit more forgiving and i don't have to supply all the power, the n has some power to it :)
