strings...different weight

is there a considerable difference in weight between strings of different gauge, type or brand?
i´m trying to get the weight down in a frame i own, and wonder if buying a lighter string could help
in that endeavor.
thanks, treblings

When comparing extreme examples the difference can be huge.
A 1.10mm multifilament can weigh as little as 12g, while a thick poly (e.g. Luxilon 4G S) can even add 22g.

However choosing strings is not a good way to decrease the final weight of the racquet.

since i´d like to make the racquet more headlight i think it may work...at least worth trying.
provided the strings characteristics are o.k.for me.
can you think of other ways to decrease the weight?

Trim bumper guard. Punch holes in the bumper guard. Several threads on this in TT. I am assuming that you are trying to remove mass from the tip in order to reduce SW. You should try mass near the handle first (increase mass there) to make the frame more HL. If you can swing the frame w/o issues, then you're set. The other ways I mention are a lot more work. In the future, buy frames that are more HL than spec because it is much easier to add mass than to remove it.

thanks, all good advice.
i bought a head pro tour 630, pro edition, at 14,6 oz.
remarkable racquet, incredible touch.
my plan was/is to get it to 12,7 oz which is my normal weight for my prestige mp´s
removed 18 g lead from under the bumper, another 15 g silicone from the handle.
no overgrip or vibra. weight down to 13,2 oz. still too heavy for matchplay:)
