Yesterday they had an open training session at the hopman cup and i got a front row seat and video'd (court level). Ferrer (i thought he retired last year?!) was a gun right from the start, reminded me of Nadal or Thiem, no warm up required lol 100% instantly. Federer was a slow starter, i think they played two sets something like 6-4 to Ferrer then 4-6 to Federer.

Just editing the video now, will post soon. (Aka dramatised @TennisProdigy style)

Totally jealous. LOVE Ferrer and of course Fed. Can't wait to see the video. Thanks for taking the time to shoot, edit and post!

That’s pretty good! You get paid by turning on “monetization.” You can only turn on monetization by going to creator studio > monetization > enable

For single ad videos you can expect to make about $1 to $3 per 1,000 views.

For multi ad videos you can expect to make $3 to $8 per 1,000 views.

@StringSnapper Ah yes, they added that prerequisite this year I believe since so many people have created new channels :p

I think it’s 1,000 subs or 10,000 views on your channel then you can monetize... I might be wrong but maybe you still have hope!

Its 1000 subs and 10,000 hrs watched in the last 12 months... wow way to discourage new channels

Yeah, that all change the start of this year and killed income for some of us long time YT'ers who aren't the most popular but have some good videos that YT makes $$$ on, but they are getting greedy and not sharing. I only have 600 subscribers, but garnered around 150,000 views and 200,000 minutes of viewing for 2018, or average around 15k views each month. And I have a decent average 10% click thru rate. So while I wasn't making a ton of $$$ I was getting a nice little check and they cut out monetizing for the average folks who aren't consistent YT'ers but make good content. Not that Google cares as long as they get free content to monetize. Really sucks for people who upload a video that goes viral, get's hits in the 100's of thousand or millions even, but they aren't a YT'er so they get nothing from it and YT massively capitalizes.

What if you create fake accounts and sub to yourself? Would that be illegal?

Yes it’s illegal and quite a few smaller channels do that. Well they buy subscribers that are essentially robots.

But, youtube has a “purging” 1-2 times a year where they delete inactive/spam subscribers from being subbed from your channel. The last “purge” was a couple weeks ago and I lost about 1400 subs that day.

How would they know if a subscriber is a bot though? What's a "legit" subscriber? Because technically I know some people can write script to create thousands of accounts using different IPs and make them act like normal Youtube users (watch random videos, leave comments, etc.)

I guess they detect fake subscribers by checking if there's an unusual huge subscribers/viewers gain in a short period of time (https://www.quora.com/How-can-I-identify-fake-subscribers-in-YouTube). If that's the case, they can just make the robots slowly subscribe to your channel instead of instantly, i.e act like human subscribers.

What’s superchat? I saw that earlier this morning, I just started posting on my channel again after taking like 8 months off and I see a few new changes.

I’m sure there are ways that people cheat the system without being detected. In all aspects of life, there will be people looking for short cuts to success.

But the main thing YT cares about is generating ad revenue then taking their 45% cut from creators. So as long as no one is cheating that system they probably won’t care THAT much about anything else...

When you do a livestream and lots of be people are commenting and asking questions, a fee can be charged to give certain questions/comments precedence, they appear in a different color. So for $2, $5 or, say, $10 you can get your question answered or have a shout out read during the stream.

No, not until I now reach the 1000/10000 limits.

There were groups of smaller producers that were doing subscriber trades to keep their numbers up but I didn't get into that, and YT frowns upon that kinda stuff too and has been known to suspend channels for TOS violations.

And YT just did another user purge this month, but luckily I have only actual users so my numbers don't change.

Eventually I will get back to creating a lot of content and working to get income back, but it was just side stuff the last 10'ish years.
