I feel like it is almost a bit funny even making a poll about this, but what do you think happens in the final of Stuttgart, an apparently now fully healthy again Nadal vs Wawrinka, the Swiss #2 player behind Federer.

Chela would have been a bigger challenge at this stage even with his lackluster movement. If Nadal is really 100% then just give him the title, Wawrinka needs to wait for the hardcourts to have a shot.

Wasnt Wawrinka out a long time with an injury as well? I think he injured himself in Davis Cup and then missed some time. I dont know for sure, I dont follow him too much.

Wawrinka was injured in a practice the day before the Davis Cup tie against Spain, he didn´t play. They played in the Australian Open this year and it was an easy win for Nadal.

OK thanks. Is this his first event since then, or when did he return? It is pretty surprising he is in the final of a clay court event, especialy after a layoff. The times I have seen him play he looks like a "serve/volley" type player, which is hard to be unless you are a super great anyway in todays game, especialy on slow stuff.

Vive le beau jeu, if you dont mind me asking, are you some kind of Nadal hater. I dont want to condemn peoples opinions but every single poll I have started on a Nadal match you seem to have him losing in straight sets. It is pretty amazing.

Don't overlook Wawrinka! This isn't his first tournament back from his injury, but considering the results he seems to be returning to form. I even consider him one of the up and coming young guys along with Berdych, Djokovic, Gasquet, Murray, Monfils etc. He's a little less flashy but very consistent and has solid game and a great one handed bh. If he hadn't got injured he'd be much higher ranked.

Stan is good on clay, his favorite surface, and he even won his first tourny last year in Umag over Djokovic. Nadal will probably win this match but I think this will be a good match and hope Wawtinka will prove to be a bit of a challenge.

Well, if the antinadal.com in his signature didn´t give it away what will? He´s terrible. I´m so glad he´s a Fedfan. Everytime they accuse Nadal fans of being biased or fanatical just point your finger at the likes of Vive La Merde, federerfanatic (though he´s not as bad anymore) and Grimjack. They make the zaniest Nadal fans look tame compared to them.

nadal should win this matchup pretty easily in straight sets, take some time off, and then play the masters events leading up to the us open

Nadal down a break 1-3 in the 1st. Now he will break back. Then break some more and win the 1st 6-3. Then he will keep on breaking and win 2nd 6-1. Clay is so excting. Zzzzzzzzz....

Great choking easy volley out to get broken while serving for the set.
As I said, if you don't take your chances you're screwed against Nadal.

CONGRATULATIONS. The King of Clay wins again. Nadal is amazing. Down about 3-1 in the first and 4-1, then 5-2 in the second and still wins 6-4 7-5. Nadal is a beast. What a phenomenon.

It is good to hear Wawrinka gave a good fight atleast. Whether he choked or not in the 2nd set, he still deserves respect for even being up like that in the 2nd set. I wonder if Wawrinka keeps improving and becomes a top 20 player if Federer will start playing Davis Cup? If Switzerland develops a 2nd good player it would seem to be he should have no excuse not to play Davis Cup.

As for Nadal I was thinking when I heard he was injured halfway through he should pull out, but it looks like his injury gradualy healed, and so it wasnt too risky for him to play. I am glad it worked out well for him, and like some said earlier I guess he knows his body better then any of us do. Glad he will get some rest now and hopefully be fully healed for later this summer.

Congrats to Rafa for a new title and an amazing 2007.
Today was probably the worst he played this week and Wawrinka really pushed him with his agressive shots from the baseline but Nadal is light years ahead in mental toughness.
Both wasted many break point chances (Nadal 5/12, Wawrinka 3/9 on break points converted) but Nadal played better in the last games of every set. Wawrinka got the game but not the brain to beat Nadal today.

Nadal was just too much it seems like. Congrats to Wawrinka for giving a good match. Good to see Switzerland has another good player. However Nadal and Federer are too powerful and strong for everyone else.
