Tanking Matches to Drop Rating

Good question.
Somewhat related: I've often pondered what would happen if two sandbaggers (unbeknownst to one another) faced off in a match that both are determined to tank...

Been there, sad to admit. You had to hit serves into the net otherwise they were called in. Last two games were eight straight doubles into the net.

Tony Le's Dallas team was maybe the dirtiest I've ever seen. Freeman seems to get the most ridiculous of the individual tankers like Hunter Emmott and Chris Rossi, but even he's never had the coordinated dumping of entire seasons to get a whole roster of solid 4.5Cs to work with.

Agreed. Worse yet, that Le 4.0 team also had two guys DQed to 5.0 during the season.

What's going on with his rating - it appears like he was tanking matches in the end of 2015 but somehow got bumped up a level anyways. The only league that he looks to be trying is the Tri-Level one.

Do you wanna bet tri-level doesn't count towards ratings in TX? LOL.

He was throwing matches in the 18+ fall league in Sept and early Oct, but if you go back to the 2015 season, he played in nationals in both 18s and 40+ in October '15 after those matches, where he was 9-2 overall in those nationals-level matches after the fall 18+ league, which just goes to show that the DTA 18+ 4.0 league is clearly a much higher level than 4.0 nationals. LOL.

Le and the guys from his team that played with him at 4.5 in 2016 were a combined 1-30 in non-trilevel, non-mixed matches. LOL. They're like the Patriots of 4.0 tennis - cheating your way to one title just isn't enough.

In Ft Worth we have a group of guys who were once rated 4.0, lost in the finals of Texas Sectionals to the Dallas team that won nationals, won the TR-Level nationals, bumped to 4.5 and are now tanking matches to get moved down to 4.0 again. I don't understand it, why don't they want to play the best?

I played some guys from ft worth a few years ago in a 7.5 tri level and wow were they good. All the guys were 4.5 players.
