Tecnifibre Black Code 4S 16g: LOVE.

Why is this GREAT string not getting any love?

I've been using several Tecnifibre strings for about a year now, and I've written a couple of reviews, sharing my experiences with Red Code Wax, Razor Code, and the original Black Code. I wanna summarize this by telling you guys that I'm torn between Black Code and Razor, I really really like them both (check out my reviews and feel free to ask). I tried a Black Code 4S sample a dealer gave me and I really liked it at first, so now I decided to get a reel for myself.

It is really a beauty of a string. This updated Black Code has four edges instead of the previous five (squared section) that really does grab the ball a ton more. The first thing I noticed was the enhanced spin, this will be magnified of course IF you have spin-friendly strokes and acceleration. My shots are dipping sharply and I just love to accelerate and really rip my shots.

String feels a bit softer too, compared to the original BlackC, it is also a plus for me, although the original is stiffer, its not at all uncomfortable, but I just like the softer feel much more. Ball pocketing is great, more than the original, this comes from the softer 4S, I guess.

Since it is softer, it feels also more flexible, gives you just enough power, specially if you like to swing big. It is a very control oriented string, but I do feel it provides some power.

I have played it for four hours now, and I think (and hope) they still have four more hours at least in them, since Tecnifibre advertizes it as a longer lasting string compared to the original BC (as much as 15% more). It definitely becomes a bit more playable after an hour or two of play, which I preffer, its much more comfortable and you feel more connected to it, but maybe it was just the "break in period" and me getting used to the new string, and racquet too, since I was using my new TFight 300 DC (red, blue, white) for the very first time.

Its a GREAT string for full poly users, maybe if you dont use poly or use very light racquets it will be a bit jarring, but def a great string for aggresive players who manage their own power, you'll get LOADS of spin out of this string!

Agree it is a great string. Very under appreciated. My fav sided poly, too bad it is so expensive. What is your fav round poly?

Good string but I'm not a string breaker and I sawed through a set in 2 hours which was unbelievable. It was in a Wilson spin effect frame though.

Thats weird. Im a strings breaker, and orig Black Code lasts about 10 hrs for me, we'll see how far I go with 4S.

Yeah those Wilson spinner frames just chew any string down fast.

I think Razor Code, its got everything. Much more livelier than Black Code.

I tried Razor Code and my racquet vibrated for some odd reason. It was super weird. It felt too stiff. It lasted a lot and I had pretty good control. Prefer Black Code or 4s. Who has tried Red Code wax???

Maybe try lower tensions with Razor. I went with 52 and really like it. 55 if I want more control. Really enjoy the 17g Razor.

Red Code Wax wasnt that good for me. Just tried the 17g and didnt last at all, 3-4 hours. I had liked the original Red Code 17g and though this would be better, but no.

The string didn't catch on, because too many playtesters complained of its stiffness.

Rlly? I dont find them stiff, maybe even softer than original Black Code.

I was using BC 17g but I break them FAST, even though theyre great strings, I go through them in about 6 hours.

I'm now at the 10 hour mark with BC 4S, Im pretty sure theyre about to go, but 10 hrs of play Id say its completely acceptable, to me at least, as a stringbreaker.

Maybe try them at lower tensions, 55 or less, Im stringing at 53-54 and wanna try 50 lbs next. They def play and feel better after a day of play, once theyre broken in. But this is my prefferance with practically every poly Ive used.

The bite on the ball is AMAZING, rips the fuzssappart much more than original BC (I really like to see fuss on the strings!).

The more I use them, the more I enjoy these strings.

The bite IS amazing on BC 4S and the air is left full with yellow fuzz floating around but the problem for me is that the string is just too soft and in a few hours there is no more "snapback". Freshly strung the strings slide easily but after 2-3 hours of hitting the stringbed gets locked up. After that you have to rely on the grab from its shaped feature. The best way i can describe it is that the string to string friction gets really high in only a couple of hours. But this string is amazing never the less. Try it with red code wax in the crosses. The amount of spin you get with this combo is just incredible.

Fk yeah!!! I actually tried Black Code (orig) mains + Red Code Wax crosses and were GREAT. I'll sure update the hybrid with BC 4S!

Well, to each his own. I've enjoyed the string even more the more I play with it.

would the red code wax as crosses be too harsh for a guy with elbow problems? just checked the stiffness is up there.. been looking for a smooth poly to experiment with in anticipation to switching to nat gut main soon...

The initial responses are very important to how a string would do in the market.

You can track down the old posts. They were not positive, especially with regard to its stiffness, hence the string's low popularity.

Interesting perception gap with the 4S, though. A lot of early reviews did indeed describe it as uncomfortably stiff but, among those who liked it, most said it was soft or at least softer than the original Black Code and several other options. That difference happens to some extent with most polys. It just seemed a little more pronounced than usual with the 4S.

It is difficult to say but i don't find the red code wax to be a stiff string at all. I think it plays soft and suspect that one reason is the wax coating. I think it would compliment natural gut main strings really well. Same goes btw with babolat origin. Origin mains & red code wax crosses makes for a super comfortable, powerful and spin friendly strinbed.

Yea i have no idea why this is... i perceive the 4S as one of the softest and most comfortable shaped strings there is. I really have no idea how they have done it thou. It is soft, yet control oriented. Not like for example tour bite soft or volkl cyclone which for me play like rocket launchers.

The Black Code 4s is a great string, its only weakness is its durability, its break too fast, i've tried the 1.25 and 1.30 gauge

Hmmm... still debating about this. On my first try, it lasted 10 hours, that, to me, would be on average for a quality softer side poly. Acceptable.

On my 2nd try out, it only lasted 3 hours. First two were against an average hitter, not too heavy, had to generate a lot of my own pace. The last hour I played agaist someone who hits much heavier, with much more topspin, this was on har-thru, and I just BLASTED the strings hitting an all-out return of serve forehand. Broke a main right on the top part of the sweet spot, just BOOM.

Something similar happened to me because the durability of the string also depends on how hard are the strokes of your hitting partner, for me the string lasted a bit more in drills than in matches or hitting sessions.
