Tennis after Federer and Nadal

Try harder with your logic that because Nadal fans like Federer his fans added to Fedfans will miss him when he retires.

But you didn't disprove this logic, so, either:

1) Nadal fans don't really enjoy Federer playing (even against Nadal) or
2) Nadal fans are not the biggest fanbase or
3) both

Nadal fans don't like watching Fed as much as his fans would like to believe.

That is a constatation (which we already heard here from you), not an answer to the question, but even so you make a good point of admitting, that Nadal fans are in fact going overboard with their lamentation about the "beatdowns" Nadal puts on Federer.

Thanks for admitting that.

You're delusional.

You know what they say. Better to be quiet and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

A guy that's won the fan favorite award more times than I can count will be "missed more by the establishment than the fans" OK.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Fed's and Nadal's matches have more viewers and attention than the entire rest of the men's and women's tours combined. So NO. Right now, NOTHING suggests that tennis will be the same when they retire. But as other posters before me have said; there will be new faces eventually. New superstars. Over time, the sport will move on. In this case, the biggest cliché of them all is 100% true: Nobody can be bigger than the game itself.

I can't decide if I enjoyed watching Korda, Mecir and Rios more than Federer so with Federer gone a 'better' player isn't essential or even necessary for my viewing pleasure.

The establishment 'gives' him the award. He is the only player nominated by the establishment EVERY year without fail.

I respect Djokovic, but I have to agree with this.
I'm finding it hard to be inspired as things are now, and when Federer stops being a force too, that's going to get way worse I feel.
:(
Kyrgios was a hope for awhile, but his lack of discipline combined with his mental blow-ups have made that not so good. There are other exciting players with more interesting games who just don't have enough talent/ability to make it to the top.

Tennis will suffer when Nadal is done.

All you guy's still believe that there is a rivalry between Nadal and Federer. The real rivalry in this generation id Nadal vs Djokovic.

Federer is not part of this generation, and simply came along for the ride. After 2011, he has more or less been a has been.

Meh.

People said the same thing; "life after Johny Mac, Borg, Lendl and Becker", "Agassi and Sampras", or whatever. Yet everyone is still watching tennis. Hypocrites.

There is going to be a gap for 5 years but we'll see new talent emerge. Don't be down in the dumps once Federer and Nadal are gone. It can only get better.

You can always watch some tennis but excitement can gone when you arent huge fan of the new players. I am watching tennis for 30 years ı only got mad about 2 players during that time Steffi and Rafa. Never been all that excited about others and there were many other great players during that time. I wasnt even a huge fan of Agassi and Sampras.

The game itself is bigger than any player, even unbelievably popular players like Fed and Nadal. Some new guy on the distant horizon will come along and energize the fan bases of Roger and Nadal. If someone stops watching tennis just because their guy retires, they were never a tennis fan at all, just a fan of a particular player.
That's a bit harsh I love the attacking and stylish tennis. Once Roger, Tsonga and co are gone I can't watch the grinding of Novak (as impressive as it is) it's not what Tennis is to me. I'm sure others feel the same.
