The greatest tennis rivalry is NOT Nadal - Federer, but Nadal - Djokovic

I was watching Nadal - Federer on Eurosport, and commentator was announcing the match, and comparing it to Frasier - Ali.

Nadal - Federer match was rivalry when Nadal was a little kid. Now there is only dominance from Nadal's part.

The real Frasier - Ali, Jordan - Bird, Tyson - Holifild rivalry is Nadal vs Djokovic. This is there 4th grand slam final to play each other, out of 6.

They already played 29 matches against each other, and there is going to be A LOT more, since Novak is only 24, and Rafa is 25. For example, Sampras - Agassi played 34 times against each other... so Novak and Rafa are going to play ... I think around 50 matches by the end of there careers

Haha

At least in his day Rodge beat him twice in majors, and produced that 2008 classic 5 setter.

You call Djoker_ Nadal a rivalry? it has been a complete ownage.

Just take this: King of clay losing in straights in Madrid and Rome.

Rivalry?

Currently the best rivalry in tennis is Djokovic-Murray, the two top players in the game right now. Djokovic-Nadal has become too one sided to call it a rivalry, Nadal struggles to win sets against Djokovic let alone matches, it is not an interesting match up. The final of the AO was played last night.

1. Djokovic-Murray
2. Djokovic-Federer
3. Federer-Murray
4. Nadal-Murray

The Djokovic-Nadal and Federer-Nadal rivalry is over rated two out of ten matches is good tennis the rest has been sub par.

If you lose all the time it isn't a rivalry.

It's like saying Federer and Hewitt have a rivalry, Hewitt won all the time and now Federer wins all the time.

16-13 seems like more of a rivalry than 18-9 or 20-2

Rafa can easily go on to win 5 in a row vs Nole, what matters is the total at the end of the day.

But Nadal beat Federer in 5 straight matches twice! Djokovic - Nadal is 16-13 and much closer from the 18-9that Nadal Federer have.

Times change, players change and rivalries change, both of the match ups you are talking about were relevant 2 years ago, not now.

Yeah right, one good match (that he lost) and Murray is suddenly the 2nd best player. Let alone that you think Murray would have definitely beaten Nadal had he reached the final (the guy who has never won a slam and lost the last 3 slam semis so Rafa)...

As for your ranking, that is just nonsense. I'm not even sure if you have even watched many of these matches talking about not interesting match ups and mostly sub par matches. But I have hardly ever heard anyone agreeing with that view so that should tell enough.;)

Djokovic isn't the draw that Nadal and Federer are. That's a fact. Nadal vs. Federer is the best rivalry in tennis, no matter how much Nadal haters try to convince themselves otherwise.

LMAO, I think you are the one basing it on one match, I am the one basing it on what I have seen from Murray over the past 6 months, do you watch tennis outside of the majors? Did you see any of his other matches or just this one? Did you miss Brisbane, what about Shanghai? What player has won the most titles over the past six months? Who has gained the most points out of the top 4.

Nostalgia is for fanboys and media hype, the game is constantly changing.

Djokovic and Murray are both playing the best tennis of their careers right now, Nadal and Federer are on the decline, we will see this play out as the year goes on, Murray will pass both Federer and Nadal in the rankings by the end of the year, guaranteed.

I agree, I think Murray is going to have some great tennis ahead of him and that match last night/this morning was phenomenal.

Federer loses too much against Nadal for it to be considered any kind of rivalry nowadays.

Much like Pacquiao vs Marquez in boxing. They had trilogy matches, and Marquez always lose. But Marquez, had the chances and he always choked (like failure to perfectly execute a kill).

So true.... Federer-Nadal has been what tennis has been using as a draw for years..... Even here, no one paid as much attention to the Murray-Djokovic match as the Fed-Nadal match. People just love Fed-Nadal.

Djokovic has a better record against Nadal than Fed does....

Also, they've played more...

No matter what's the result, Federer Nadal is my favourite match up of them all. Call it rivalry, ownage, or whatever you like, but their matches are the most fun to watch. Not because Rafa wins them so often, but because they produce great contrast in styles, characters, and feature the greatest players of this time and probably greatest ever. Also, Federer's trying to solve Rafa riddle has been intriguing. He continues to lose the most important matches to him, but he is still in it and hope dies last.
