Tennis Bag Recommendations

My old black/silver Wilson Team tennis bag is ready to be retired to the closet after nearly five years. The shoulder and the "luggage" strap have torn off, and I am tired of using top strap and slinging the bag over the shoulder.

I am looking to get another 6 or 9 racquet bag. My standard haul is: 4 racquets, full set of tennis attire, shoes, two cans of balls, and 2-3 water bottles. Any recommendations? Or more importantly any "do not buys"? I would hate to spend $60-$120 for something that starts breaking down in 3-5 months. Ideally, I want to get at least three years out of a bag even though I am rough on them.

Thanks!

I just bought the Wilson Super Tour 3 Grey 15-Pack Bag. It’s pretty well made, however I do take care of mine. I hardly ever sit it on the ground. I bought a clip and hang it on fences most times. Also it has tons of room for shoes, (climate control on both sides) racquets, tennis balls, etc. You may not think you need all the extra space, but you’ll appreciate once you have it.

One last thing (just a suggestion) if you’re going to spend $100+ on a tennis bag, why not take a little better care of it. ;-)

Thanks for the recommendation.

My typical "haul load" puts a lot of strain on the straps especially when I bike 6-10 miles round trip to get to my preferred tennis courts or carry the bag up and down the flights of stairs at the office and parking garage. With the exception of the straps on the Wilson bag, I had no issues whatsoever. I have considered taking the bag to a tailor to re-stitch the straps, but I am just not convinced that such a repair is a good long term fix.

I had been looking at the Wilson 6 and 9 packs, but it seems everyone's consensus is that "bigger is better." I guess a larger bag will be sturdier and be able to handle a heavier load. Maybe with the incorporation of the now standard second shoulder strap I should be set. My current bag only had the single shoulder strap. Any issues with zippers or stitching on the bags?

Thx Again!

Yeah I’ve got a babolat 6 racquets and I regret not buying a bigger one. I ride a motorcycle so I don’t have extra space to put things that don’t fit in the bag.
So I have to carefully select my gear before a a match and it’s annoying to not be able to carry that extra racquet or that extra sweater etc..

As others have said, take a look at the tecnifibre bags. Really solid materials and construction. Also consider the Solinco 15 pack.

Based on the ones in my local store, I'd go either Dunlop or Yonex. They seem to be made of very quality materials. I'm not a fan of head bags at all. I'm not as big of a Wilson fan as I used to be got bags. Babolat had decent bags, but I'm just not a babolat fan in general. I've never gotten to feel a tecnifibre bag since our so doesn't carry them, so I can't comment on them.

Does Tecnifibre have climate control?

not anymore. They basically removed the climate control feature right after they added tarpaulin on the outside. Only one bag that i know of has both, but subsequent bags do not.

they market tarpaulin as climate protection, but that's trash. My TF bag that has both tarpaulin and climate control gets much hotter in the non-climate control sections in summer. Also notice how they say it's climate control from UV rays.. that will only protect against discoloration.. it's IR it needs protection from, which it does not
