Just wondering what the majority goes for. I've always felt comfortable with a 12-racquet size bag, even though I've rarely carried/owned more than two racquets, I like to be able to fit a lot of gear inside:
2 Racquets
1-2 Reel of strings
1 30-pack of overgrips
At least 1 can of balls
1-2 hand towels
1-2 double-sized wristbands
1 post match tshirt
Sunscreen cream, plus sunscreen stick & lip stick

Occasionaly one extra tennis gear (shirt, shorts, socks), and crocs.

I like to have enough space to be able to fit my day clothes/shoes if I get a match right after a work day.

6 amateurs with giant 12 pack bags look silly like a 18 handicap golfer with a giant staff bag with their name on the front but can't get off the first tee.

Hmmmmm not quite the same.... a golf bag pretty much holds golf clubs and thats it, whereas a tennis bag you can fit all kinds of crap in it. Way more convenient.

I used to think that way, but when your time is more limited, its VERY convenient to have a BIG bag, where you can fit two or even just one racquet, balls, grips, towels, your tennis gear, enough space for you day clothes and shoes (I sometimes go to the court from work and like to be able to store my clothes in the one bag). Like I said, I've never carried more than two racquets, and I do prefer a bigger tennis bag, at least a 12 racquet bag size.

2-5 racquets depending on what I have strung. One or two shirts, socks, spare shoe laces. Maybe a water bottle if I can remember to bring it. Oh, and spare hats.

I usually have 3+ racquets, and a change of clothes, shoes, etc, so I've always gone with the larger bag for convenience sake, usually it's not super full.

Wilson Tour V 15 pack.

4 - Blade 104's (2 at preferred tension, 1 two lbs tighter, 1 two lbs looser)
2 - water bottles (24 oz Hydro Flasks)
1 - towel
1 - mesh bag containing about 20 sweat bands (various colors)
4 - cans of balls (2 Penn Marathon, 2 Tretorn pressureless for practice)
2 - pair of sunglasses
1 - pair of tennis gloves for cold weather
6 - hats
10 - replacement over grips (give or take a few)
2 - packs of Volkyl Psycho hybrid string (emergency use only, not string of choice)
1 - first aid kit
12 - small dome cones (for practice targets etc)
3 - jumpers knee straps
1 - Band It strap (had a touch of TE before I switched to the Blades)
1 - Swiss Army knife
1 - zip lock bag with extra dampeners, shoe laces, etc
1 - Odor Gladiator in the center compartment
Plenty of room for a change of clothes, jacket, shoes, etc.
Plenty of pockets for phone, wallet, keys, etc.

Some say it is over kill for my level of tennis, but I have used almost everything in the bag at least once in the past six months (first aid kit thankfully does not get a lot of use, mostly for band aids when someone else cuts their finger on a ball can) and most items get almost weekly if not nightly use. I went with a six pack bag for a while with a separate small duffel, but preferred the single larger back pack bag.

i carry 5-6 rackets and everything i might need on the court.. i love the nike court tech 1 backpack. perfect sized bag..holds everything, stands up with the little feet.. shame they stopped making this bag.. i bought a back up for that far off day when it will be needed. the bag is molded as well and holds its shape well either empty or packed. nike claims it holds 12 rackets.. it will fit 8..but that's a bit of a squeeze. so 12 is a flagrant lie and is my only complaint.

It's the same. You can carry 14 clubs in a small sunday bag or a huge staff bag. They both hold 14 clubs, one holds way more crap an am doesn't need and looks stupid.

I really like the Nike Court Tech 1 bag, it is really the best I have found thus far, very practical, although it can still use few minor improvements :)

urban camo prince 6 pack bag for me. i don't carry more than 3 sticks these days. which 3 racquets depend on what i have strung and what i'm doing (heavier sticks for hitting with the ball machine; lighter sticks for hitting with the wife) the other pouch of the bag is for my kids' stuff (quickstart balls and jr. racquets, there water bottles, sunscreen, etc.). somewhere else in the bag there are a couple of spare overgrips, wrist bands, bandanas, a couple of cans of balls and a water bottle for me.

OP -
why on earth do you carry your string reels around? Totally unnecessary.

I'm with you though. I use the One Strings 14pack, I carry all my tennis stuff. Shoes, clothes, cans of balls, 5 sticks, water, towel. All sorts of junk.

I always have four racquets with me (even though I rarely use more than two), but my bags fits them so why not? :)

I have the babolat pure strike 9pack which, in contrast to some of their other bags in recent years, is excellent! Best bag I've owned.

Wilson tour molded 2.0
2 burn fst 95
1 babolat pure control
2 sets of string
A pack of 12 ish overgrips
Jump rope
Towel
Clothes
Shoes
Replacement grip
Rosin bag
Scissors
Tennis balls new and used for warm up
Allen wrenches
Bag full of sweat bands head bands and bandannas
And kt tape also heat and instant ice packs
Also shock absorbers rubber bands and lead tape

I have an older Prince Tour 6 pack that I have fit 10 racquets in. It has two sides that can fit 5 racquets each. I used to average 5 racquets in the bag and would occasionally put 1-2 in the other side. I carried so many racquets because I was undecided, unskilled and blamed my equipment too often. "I'm not getting enough topspin. I need X racquet. My serve is off today... I serve better with Y. I sure do volley better with Z".

I now carry two of the same racquet in the bag, and no more. I have another bag at the house that is currently holding all the racquets I no longer use.

In addition to the two racquets:
- 1 or 2 cans of balls
- A few overgrips (but the majority are in my box at home)
- Extra dampeners
- Shoes
- Water bottles
- Ankle braces
- Clean shorts and shirt
- Snacks
- Deoderant
- Moustache wax

My bag weighs about 2/3 of what it did on average before and it fits in the lockers at the club a lot easier.

I just love threads like these that give me the chance to write up all these lil' things I have:

During tourneys(outstation or not; carried in court):
I use only supersized 15 pack bags as my main carrier, the other bags like duffels/backpacks not included...
4x racquets
2x set of strings
10x++ overgrips
1x small reel of lead tape
2x stencil ink
1x tennis shoes
1x slippers
2x spare socks
2x spare undergarments
5x+ spare tshirts
2x spare pants
1x big towel with clips
1x small towel
1x can of balls (either good condition or new)
1x sun lotion
1x antiseptic cream
1x heat spray
1x cold spray
1x muscle reliever gel (I go for voltaren)
1x strip of paracetamol
4-5x Oris salt solutions
1x skipping rope
8-10x wristbands
1x small scissors
1x small clippers
1x small bag of assorted dampeners (I've collected maybe 10+ of them)
1x small water bottle
1x big water bottle (sometimes if the event organizers/team provides, then just the small bottle)
1x tennis cap (I don't know why.. I NEVER wear it when playing!?)
2x KT tape
1x roller bandage
3-4x band aids
1x mosquito repellent
1x pen and small notebook
1x cellphone/powerbank
1x Wilson anti-sweat bag for sweaty clothes/shoes

Can I ask what the heat spray, cold spray, and paracetamol are for? And what they do?

I am a big bag guy. I sweat a lot, so I have to carry at least 1 towel and several shirts and caps/bandanas. That takes up a lot of space. play on mostly public courts with no water, etc., so water bottles have to fit in...

couple of sticks, 10 or 12 warm up balls, 2 fresh cans, bluetooth speaker

it adds up....

I prefer a duffle style bag. I think because I was a big Sampras fan and he always had that cool Nike duffle. I've used the Nike duffle before for a long time but have recently gone to the tecnifibre one

I use the Nike bag and think it is the perfect bag, but I am really disappointed that they are not continuing this line. The bag is well built and looks great.

I usually have the following:
5 rackets (4 for myself and 1 for the wife)
2 pairs of shoes (1 for artificial grass and 1 for hard court)
1 pair of sandals
2 packs of string
4 wrist bands
2 headbands
15 pack of replacement grips
1 Octopus style camera tripod for taking videos
1 medium training band for warm up
2 tubes of balls
1 Tshirt
1 Shorts
1 Underwear
1 Pair of socks
2 small towels

i used to carry around a big Head Tennis Bag with 4-5 Raquets, spare clothes, balls, towels, etc. etc. ... and do it until now 4-5 Times a Year when i play little Tournaments and such, but mostly, as i ride my bicicle to the courts, i have reduced it to a Tecnifibre Pro ATP Pro Backpack ... 2 Raquets, 1 Can of Balls, Tennis Shoes, Mobile, a few Euros ... thats all you need really ... and much easier then to howl around 25 kilos of mostly unneeded Crap ... ;-))
