Tennis/golfers elbow, which shot hurts yours the most?

Just curious which shot bothers people's elbows the most. My 1hbh does a little but my serve absolutely kills my elbow if my form slides just a tiny bit. How bout everyone else?

I'm the same, 1 handed backhand and serve. It's normally the kick serve which gives me issues, the flat and slice serve rarely hurt unless I mis-hit it completely.

When the golfer's elbow gets real bad it hurts on serve too.
Mine was started and aggravated the most with the serve, but fhs troubled it too.

I hit serves for an hour today with a 70 ra racket strung at 76/86lbs with kev/nylon...using pressureless balls. Will see tommorrow but I dont think these is much more I could do to mess with my golfers elbow.

Not sure what you mean. Of course if you have elbow problems you have to get rid of that frame, those strings and that tension right away...

You can keep pressureless balls though ;)

yikes my technique is definitely not clean enough to play with something that stiff!!!
I recently tried kirschbaum super spiky at 60 on my radicals and immediately had elbow/wrist issues... I cut it out immediately after an hour of hitting (and I hate stringing!!)

1HBH for sure. After about 16 months of no tennis I'm hoping to get back out in the next month or so. I'm learning a 2HBH.

My arm is OK. The ge is not 100% healed but hitting serves and playing doesnt make it any worse. Actually the pressureless balls were the worse part. My elbow was a bit sore where you get te but its fine today.

My technique is pretty good but could be better, but the trick is that I dont use much if any grip pressure. That makes a HUGE difference.
Also some report poly being harder on the arm than kevlar is. FWIW, the nylon was great and softened up the string bed. I was hitting drop shots which I can't really hit with poly crosses at 72lbs.

Love the sound of a kevlar string bed, and if you pair it with a soft smooth cross like monogut zx you get a comfy string bed. And my racket is a 110" so thats more like 60lbs in a smaller frame.

serve, slice backhand and backhand volley. Changed my grip to a continental on the serve and that made a slight difference. Also have worked on some bad habits I developed with my swings over the years....

Here is a vid with that racket freshly strung. I think you can hear the stiffness

Serve only. The lower the toss ... the worse it is.... the pronation at full extension doesn't seem to bother as much (i.e. higher toss) as pronation with some flexion in the elbow. Pretty difficult to play a set and not have some mishits and low tosses... ouch! Even with daily exercises (theraband), massage and stretching with a long warm up before play... It is just not good... still.. but at least I can play some.. :(

I have relegated that my GE will never be "healed". Playing with proKennex 5g NG mains (58lb) Blk Mamba crosses (54lbs)... Like it.. very easy on the elbow otherwise.. Nothing really bothers the elbow except the serve... maybe I should seek professional help.... though I feel like my technique is fairly good... :(

Oh well.. it sucks to get old (and hurts some too).... :(

I hear ya. Serve really bothers mine as well. Particularly the GE. If I really focus on my finish of my stroke it's better but no matter what it still hurts. What sucks is that out of anything I should practice I would say that my serve is top of that list, too bad every time I do I end up with pain that makes me stop for at least a week. Tough to compete like that.

^^^^^ THIS ! For me the issue is that my serve is generally my best offense.. :( So having to throttle back makes it less fun ... Not to mention not being able to really practice my serve... At this point I would prefer to play a bit rather than practice.. if I practice the serve.. I'll be out for a couple weeks at least.. :( Definitely recommend to anyone willing to listen.. to NOT play if you feel any kind of elbow discomfort .. Change the racquet and/or strings immediately... incredibly debilitating :(

I have golfers elbow. Haven't played for 7 weeks and went for a light hit on the weekend. Bad idea. Just hit a few short court forehands with my sister and the pain came back fast. Definitely not close to being healed. Wouldn't dare to try a serve as the pronation would rip my arm off. Hit 2 handed backhands with a ball machine the rest of the time and that was fine. I feel I've taken 2 steps backwards (probably 2 weeks) in my healing just from those few light hits.

Good news is that your bh gets alot more practice! Heal up soon.

They both hurt bad. I had golfers elbow a few months ago and it sucked. Right now I am lucky because the pain is gone. Went away after 2 months.
However, I am nursing a sore shoulder which is only a tad better.

GE - forehand and serve, especially kick serves...
TE - backhands
Framing, misshitting the ball hurts like h**l.
Expect severe cases of TE & GE to need up to 2 years for healing. I'm at 17 months now
with my latest case of TE and healing level is approximately 75%

Wax and polish a car afterwards next time.

Try sleeping with a shoulder injury. Btw, hear bowlers can really develop a wicked GE.
I can see that in bowlers. That injury sucks. My shoulders have been pretty solid but my uncle had rotator cuff surgery and was really having a tough time sleeping.

this.
I find I get TE/GE when I'm late for the ball,... (eg. arm positioned such that my skeletal structure supports my arm at contact).
If you have it, try using it (in a light hit or mini tennis) to find where it hurts the least (or not at all), to determine optimal contact point.
