I'm going to be ordering a Prince Tour Diablo Mid (recommended tension 53-63).

In another post I was trying to decide whether to go with Luxilon Big Banger ALU Power 16L, Kirschbaum Super Smash Honey 17g, Prince Synthetic Gut w/Duraflex 16g, or a hybrid with poly/synthetic.

I think I've decided to order it with a stringing of all Prince Synthetic Gut w/Duraflex 16g in black.

The reasons being: I think the all synthetic stringing will last the shortest amount of time (so I'll be able to try a different string job, probably hybrid, in a shorter amount of turn around time), it's probably not what I'm going to end up going with on a permanent basis, and I want to say that I at least gave the Prince Synthetic Gut w/Duraflex 16g a shot.

My question: What tension do you think I should start out with?

I typically string my POG mid with Luxilon Big Banger ALU Power 16L at 57 pounds. I recently strung one of my other POG mids with the Luxilon in the mains (62 pounds) and Gosen OG Sheep Micro 16g in the crosses (59 pounds) and that felt a little too tight.

Thanks.

Well, the old rule of thumb is to string it high if you like a firm feel and more control, lower for a softer, more comfortable feel and more power. If you were using ALU @ 58 lbs. in a POG mid, I'd say to string the PSGD at about 60-63 lbs., depending on how you want it to feel.

I guess you should start with lower tension with your new Diablo since it has dense string pattern than POG, i.e. 16x18 vs 14x16, in order to get similar stringbed result.

Not quite sure about which type of stringing machine you are using for your rackets, i.e. constant pulling or regular crank machine, thus it's very hard to give you exact number of reference tension. But a good starter should be your poly hybrid tension x 1.05 less 1 to 3 lbs.

I am using POG mid now and found that 54 lbs is the magic tension for hybrid, toubo touch/Gosen OG Sheep 16g, Gosen Polylon/Gosen Sheep 16g, Ashaway Monogut/Lasefibre Syn 16g. Any tension higher than 54lbs, I felt stiff. I use my own laserfibre MS200 ECO with fixed clamps.

I was demoning Diablo last week and found it's a very good racket except lacking of power or spin compare to POG, but had much better control due to dense string pattern.

Bump this thread boys.....I had my final demo session last night with the Diablo Mid and the nCode nSix-One 95 and found that neither one of them are actually better than my POG mid or my Hyper ProStaff 6.1.

I think when (IF) I finally do change I'll be moving to something with a little more power than any of these racquets and in a lighter package (any ideas :D )!!!

Sorry for the inconvenience of my pre-mature posting.

LOL Benjamin....you crack me up :D I hate to say I told you so but....I told you at the beginning of this, your latest racket quest that you would be back with the POG. Why do you keep putting yourself thru this? You must really enjoy all the gyrations.

Are you this crazy outside of tennis? :D

benj, if you want something with a pro staff like players racquet feel(medium stiff, head light), but lighter and with more power, I'd suggest the PK Laver S series. There are two of them(standard and 1/2" longer). They are good plaforms for customization as well.

TW has just introduced the POG Longbody, and its specifications look close to what you are looking for. Maybe you should demo this one...

Tension

I string my 16 g Head Perfect power at 42 pounds (yes 42 ) on my Head LM tour (360 g) and I have everything power with less efort , comfort, control (comfortable weapon )
and strings almost doesn`t move at all (very little).

Try it !

I use to string my racquets at 60 pounds few years ago :( but then  I tried this combination ................. :D
