I think Miami and Shanghai were both so awesome. Both kind of whimpered out a little bit at the end, but Miami had so many awesome matches through the early rounds, and the NextGen rebellion in Shanghai was incredible. Madrid was fantastic as well and would round out the top 3. Rome also really good. If I had to single one out... Too tough to call:unsure: It's a shame none of them had a killer final to really put them over the edge. Was a stellar year for the 1000s. I think the younger guys ability to compete with the big 3 at this level even if they can't do it at best of 5 almost makes these tournaments more exciting at the moment

Madrid then Rome. Madrid had 6/top 8 seeds in the quarters, and featured all the Big 3. The semis saw both Nadal and Djokovic. The only thing that could have made it better was a Nadal-Djokovic ending. Fortunately, we got that at the next tournament (Rome) where we saw 5/8 seeds in the QF. Both saw a withdrawal in the QF, but Rome had Federer withdraw, which was a bigger loss than Cilic was. Rome had a better final though.

Ideally, we would have had Madrid with the Rome final.

Rome or Madrid clearly. Rome had incredible matches like Djokovic/Del Potro and Djokovic/Schwartzman. Madrid was great too with Tsitsipas/Nadal, Federer/Thiem, Thiem/Djokovic. Other masters were poor I found except Miami with Shapovalov/Tsitsipas. Canada was clearly the poorest.

Monte Carlo was just as bad, if not worse. Djokovic-Medvedev was the only decent match.

And LOL about Tsitsipas-Nadal being a great match in Madrid. Extremely low quality.

Monte Carlo had some drama at least with Fognini taking out Nadal, whereas Montreal was just boring.

I know, Federer trolls really enjoy it when Nadal plays the worst tennis of his career. I also can say Cincinnati was great because Rublev schooled a terrible playing Federer.

I didn’t say the match was great, I said it had a surprise which made it better than Montreal where there were no good matches and no upset. And it’s not because I have Federer as my profile photo that I’m an absolute Fedfan. I appreciate Rafa too and as you can see I put Rome as the best Masters and he won it, not Miami

Does the ATP Finals count among this group of tournaments? I often see it bunched together with the Masters 1000s on the Wikipedia pages.
