The 6.1 Returns

Thanks - where can you pick up the BLX2 grommets? TW doesn't have them. The Bay?

Yeah, thats where I got mine. Somewhere might have them in stock but they are like seven years old or so. The BLX2 set has some grommets that are sort of snap in and have a positive lock at the ends of the head guard. They worked but were not happy about it on my 6.1 Classic but fit like it was intentional on my Anni. I would expect previous hyper/n/k/blx1 grommets would fit as well.

Bump. Long time 6.1 16x18 user. Just want to say that I'm loving the 2014 18x20 I recently picked up. The difference in control is unreal. I don't know if I can justify buying another racquet, and I'm kind of intrigued by the new monfils one, but this stick is awesome

Wish I could find more Wilson 6.1 95 26.5 length juniors .. I think they were only sold in Europe don't ever remember seeing these frames sold in the US. But man ......................
I do Love this lil ' racket .. it's blacked out due to being so banged -
up court rash over the years . But it's one frame I tend to float back to playing with a lot ..
It plays so fun . Ridiculously delicious flex and the weight for me is perfect ..
This one strung up ( unstrung currentky ) is
11 oz strung with prince pro blend
Leather grip heat shrink build up
Overgrip and dampener
12 Points head light
Sw?
Flex- 41
Grip stock size 1 built up to 4 3/8's
Pattern -16x19
Wish I could get some cool Wilson decals for it :)

try and cut an adult racket. I wish you had swingweight

Morten- I know I wish I had the swingweight info as well . Im really bad at even guesstimating swing weight. But I think it feels low. Feels fast and whippy- like most rackets feel like unstrung - that's what this feels like strung up. If that makes any sense

Not a fan of 18x20 6.1's. A dense string pattern on a really stiff frame and small head just doesn't feel right. That's an arm killer. Hopefully they bring back the 16x18 with the same or similar specs as the K6.1.
My son plays with them, has 9 got 5 when he saw them on closeouts loves them. Also has the red one before the k factors, not quit as stiff

Just ordered the "new" six.one 95. I couldn't resist the urge. I'm looking forward to playing with it. Should remind me of all the 90 sq in Fed iterations I used to play with.

<---- 6.1 95 never left me. Buy them used on ****. Would love to see them come back. Want three matched frames.

Agreed. I never switched. Still find them used on ****.
Agree..
I have this in a jr model but still it's always in my rotation of frames . I use to play wit the adult one in high school . Went from the OG 85 to the 6.1 .
Took a little time adjusting to the power . But I ended up loving it .
And still do. I just can't Handle the weight anymore so I dropped down a peg with the 26 model. Tuff as nails to find em anymore ..
Mine hit similiAr to the adult one just lighter and a lot more flexier. I doubt there's any Kevlar in mine but it feels like there is ! It has That "breathing " sensation when hitting it just right .
I read that once from someone on these boards that when ball striking with a frame that contains Kevlar in the lay up it feels like it's breathing on contact , and I totally understand and agree that you feel the racket taking in energy and pushing it back out . It's a cool feeling that only Kevlar will provide in my experiences. And I feel like that when hitting with mine .
But it could be all in my crazy head:)

Agreed 100 %
The white and the red is so classy majestic is a great adjective !

Simple yet noticeable . Not garish like so many ..
Thanks guys...the only thing I changed from learning the game 44 years ago was retooling my swing / bio mechanics to modern forehand and backhand in order to compete, which got me bumped up to NTRP 4.5 from 4.0 in 2014 USTA Leagues. Other then that been playing Pro Staff for 44 years, with a short stint on T-3000.

BTW, I agree with the breathing on the 6.1 95. The feeling is unlike anything I have been able to find on the market today. It's the ideal blend of stiffness, balance and ease of swing for higher RPM necessary to compete with the western game.

I'm diggin' the all white + white grip with the red at 9 and 3. Just looks... Majestic.

Agreed, the 2017 version is beautiful. Great playing racquet too. Played with one for over five hours last week and loved every second of it. My sensitive arm handled the dampened stiffness of 67 just fine with SG at mid tension in it. No vibrations for me even on mishits. Nice feel even if a little too dampened. Great racquet from all over the court if you can handle the weight.

I owned the Kfactor, BLX and the "2nd" BLX of the Fed 90" frames over the past 5 or so years. I played my best tennis with those. I've always liked the 18x20 patterns in the small heads. I feel like I'll click instantly with this new 6.1 95. Arriving on Thursday.

The static weight and balance are very different. I wouldn't expect someone to seamlessly use both.

Hmmmm well for me that would be a tough transition ..
97s is a " spin " pattern so that alone vs the 18x20 would be really different . If you swing the same way with the ball will net waaaaay more with the 18x20 . Due to the lower trajectory .. so you will be missing low . But the stiffness won't matter much as it's only a few points here and there ..
The balance ? I can't recall .. but the string pattern would be the biggest issue I think here.. I go thru this same issue a lot with my rotation of rackets . I float long with open patents wheee as closed patterns I net. So with all that said I have to use 2 different string set ups to counter balance . So there is that too. But if your a solid player you can adjust . If you do get the 18x20 make sure you get a spinning type string .. just my 2 cents here:)

Sorry sir what i meant was i am currently using the ps97s for a year now since October 2016 and before that the rf97 for about 1 year but i switched to the 97S because it was too hefty for me as before i play almost everyday but now just 3x a week. I'm currently 20 years old. But i really wanted the headlight balance of the RF and i was thinking if the sixone 95 18x20 is good alternative?

The 6.1 95 does swing quicker than the RF, the pattern of the 6.1 18x20 will offer more precision but but less spin until you adjust your strokes and strings a bit.

On average I would expect many more people would find the 6.1 95 a willing companion than the RF.

Thank you sir! So despite the almost identical weight 340 vs 339, the six one is easier to swing? Also another question how bout the 16x18 is it bad? People tend to always mention the 18x20

The RF isn't bad, but the 6.1 does feel more whippy despite the same weight, probably due to how it is distributed. Part of it is probably confidence, I click more with the 18x20 pattern so I felt I didn't have to be as cautious. The 16x18 pattern is a favorite as well, for a few years I think it was the only one sold in America so I think it may have more of a following here. It is even more maneuverable, though the string density varies quite a bit if you aren't connecting well.

Ahhh...so tempted to pickup the new 18x20. Never played with an 18x20 before except for when I demoed the Blade. Honestly I did not really like the Blade 18x20 so I am little hestitant to pull the trigger.

For those of you that have used both the RF 97 and a 6.1 18x20 how much less is the topspin on the 18x20? If not much then I would feel more comfortable buying it. Last I checked I did not see any demos available.

Does anyone know if TW will offer a demo on it?

Agree with moon shot. I use the 16x18. Never tried the 18x20. I like a wider pattern and softer string bed for a couple reasons. First, I use 17 gauge string blend for more spin. The wider pattern allows the strings to move at lower tensions. I use a pretty common blend for a 4.5 player: Babolat Pro Hurricane mains at 56 and Prince Synthetic Gut crosses at 54, sometimes 54/52. Second, I have a modern forehand to generate topspin in singles and can hit my spots pretty well, thus don't have a problem with control. I like the softer string bed in doubles for volleys/touch, but if the mechanics are off the ball will float. What would the denser 18x20 pattern give me? Willing to explore if the gain is there.

Is this racket TW exclusive only or US? I've been to japan just this june and I haven't seen one in Windsor racket sports which is like their go to store in japan

It was not destined for the US (Europe had them, don't know about other markets). TW convinced Wilson to sell some in the states as well.

I think most 16x18 users would say the 18x20 is 'boardy' as a con. Also it is a bit tougher to maneuver. Sometimes a racquet that is close to the one you love but just mildly different is the hardest to adjust to.

You could see if TW or TWE will ship to you and deal with customs, but I have no idea what that looks like in your country.

@Hydrocella appears to be from that area, any hints?

I'm coming from a 6.1 16x18 and just picked up the 6.1 18x20 reissue. Certainly feels good in the hand - will be playing with it this weekend. Also have the RF97 so can compare all 3. I will say that although I like the paintjob of this reissue, I wish the red on the racquet was a deeper, truer red (like the color of the buttcap). The red at 3 and 9 and in the throat logo is more of a pinkish red which I do not like.

Mine arrived yesterday. Absolutely beautiful in the "matte white" with the painted red at 3 and 9. Yes it does feel good in the hand and doing some shadow swinging. Hoping to be out this weekend with it.

I can't insert a link from another vendor's online store but they have the racquet available for sale at 105 Euros and should ship worldwide. Send me a private message with your email and I'll send you their webstore link.

If you're anywhere near Cebu, then check out STL Sports - they're one of the best Pro Shops I've come across in the Philippines. The owner is an avid tennis player himself, so there's a wide variety of things there.

If any of you guys might be having a spot of trouble adjusting to the 18/20 pattern, try a little bit of this product on your stringbed - really helps with the adjustment from a more open pattern racquet.

Control and Power, really what else could you ask for in a frame?

*Look for it in the A * A Z * N US store.

For me, personally, the 25th anniversary is more controllable than the RF. I just don't have the skill level to rein in the turbo power of the RF97. You really need to have amazing amounts of spin to keep the ball in with the RF.

Oh thanks man! I already ordered and I'm so excited to try it. I usually string my rackets with solinco tour bite with 48 tension or 46 should i string this a lil bit higher or lower?
